My 2000 dually is pretty well stock except for the hypertech on stage 3. I pull a 5th wheel ocassionally, but regardless the highest boost is 20 psi. Will extra boost lower my EGT and can I accomplish this with something like Banks Bighead Wastegate since I already have the hypertech and I'm not planning on doing too much to it.

Dan, get yourself a boost elbow to help your turbo breath better. IMHO dont waste your money on anything Banks! Boost elbows can be had for around 10 to 30 bucks shipped and screw into the front of the turbo and have a small rubber hose on your year going to the wastegate. You just turn in the screw and it raises your boost. Chris

Thanks for the info Chris. Sounds like a good solution. With my light setup, how much boost should I run and also who carries the boost elbow?

if the hypertech doesnt do boost fooling your wasting your time the ECM will defuel @19psi. you need a box/programmer that does boost fooling.

The Hypertech does boost fooling but will set a code for overboost but no engine light. Runs great with a Hypertech and boost elbow. Many vendors carry the elbows and I believe if you check the classifieds here on TDR someone sells them under basement enterprises. You will see about 28 to 32 PSI boost with it closed off completely and that is good numbers for your HX 35 stock turbo. You can also just put a pinch clamp on the soft rubber hose to your wastegate also to up the boost instead of ordering an elbow.

Just wondering... .

This kind of makes no sense, by that I mean Boost Fooling and Setting a Code. Generally to doing the first, solves the second.

Does the Hypertech connect to the MAP?

Jim

unless you have the hard line type wastegate then CSnyder's elbow comment will work though i wouldn't just pinch the line boost over 35psi isnt recommended for the HX35.
