More Complaints and Detemined Defense of the Furd Sick.Ohh Engine

Lets help this diesel owner win the contest.

More Complaints and Determined Defense of the Furd Sick.Ohh Engine

More typical discussion of another failing Sick. Ohh Navistar engine in a Furd fifth wheel puller and the usual comments on the HitchHiker/NuWa owner's forum. Some have already figured out their Furd Sick. Ohh was junk and took their loss to dump it. Others are still pretending it is a fine engine or simply cannot admit it to themselves because they can't affor to replace it. Actual cash value of a late model Furd Sick. Ohh duallies with King Ranch leather and all the bells and whistles that sold for $50k or more is probably in the range of $3000-$5000 if they can be sold at all.

6. 0 Getting HOT

I was public enemy number one there about two years ago when I told them the truth about their sick. ohh Furds.

We were in Zion National Park in 2009 and a poor guy fired up his 6. 0. White smoke poured out and the engine knocked to high heaven. He looked at me and just shook his head. It quieted down some and he slowly pulled his fifth wheeler out of the camp. It was missing so badly,I seriously doubt the rig made it home. I hope Ford owners have better luck with this in house engine. Aside from the Transformer front grill,I like the Fords.

Back in 99 when I bought my first CTD I almost bought a cc drw 7. 3. I decided to take a minute and do some research.

I discovered the background of the ISB, and it's recent introduction of the 24V in Trailer Life magazine. I new in advance about the lift pump issues and still decided to go with the ISB.

People who dont bother th check out the product their about ready to make a MAJOR investment in shame on them.

hhhmmm... and here we are, 5+ years later, Ford having admitted that the design was a failure, and some people are still touting how great thy 6. 0 are!!!. .

There will always be some bad apples in a good orchard, and vice versa... Ideally, for a product to be sucessful, the vast majority of the product must be well thought of and considered a hit with consumers, there will be some failures and dissatisfied customers, but that number should be kept to an absolute minimum... . This is NOT the case with the 6. 0L and 6. 4L Ford/Navistar engines. There is a general sense of failure among most consumers, coupled with the power of the internet, these engines are/were doomed!.

I found a guy on YouTube who seems to have a clue on the Powerstroke engines. He also has a website called POWERSTROKEHELP. COM - The Information Source for Ford Power Stroke Diesel Owners & Mechanics He seems to be an expert on the faults of that motor, and what it takes to fix them. If you go to YouTube and enter "6. 0 the nightmare" in the search, you will find him. There is a lot of potentially useful info there regarding those engines. Seems like an intelligent, honest guy and has several videos on YouTube.
It's interesting to hear from the other team. And no, I am NOT promoting Ford, or bashing Cummins either, I simply like to hear info from the other side and form opinions on my own and thought others would appreciate the same.

Thank You for an excellent link!!!!!!!!!!!

This is an excellent source of information for some of my friends who screwed up and bought a PSD. It also back up some of the info I tried to tell them before they purchased.

I watched POWERSTROKE. COM & I am sure glad I have a Cummins. Everything he mentioned on there are big bucks to repair. You spend $35000-$45000 for the truck & then have to dump a whole bunch more to make it run right & that means that the cab probably has to be removed. Glad I have my 02 even with the fuel problems that 98. 5-02 had. Still a lot cheaper.

Yep, I agree. However if you have one, and you can't afford to take a huge loss on trade-in, at least there are options to repair and prolong the life of one until you can afford a truck with a real engine!

OR, if you found one of those $40,000 trucks that the owner is disgusted with, and can get it for cheap, get it fixed, and you can, (apparently) have a decent truck for not a lot of money. Just sayin'... ...
