I would like to know how many miles you had on this stump pulling, muscle flexing , growling 400+ hp machine before it decided to self destruct?????

Chris,

Could you give us a little biography of the life of your truck?

It seems to early to give up. You just don't hear about rods going.

Mine died, well, got wounded from Human stupidity, had nothing to do with Cummins or DC.

There isn't even any need to pull the cam to get the specs. Just a dial indicator and a degree wheel. The part I don't understand is that they should be able to have a short run of thesemade, and be able to sell them at equal or lower cost to us as compared to having one custom ground. That's the part I don't get. Oh well, to each his own!

Gene,

I'll post more details later when I know the extent of the damage. Working 12-13 hours per day lately doesn't leave much energy for my truck.

I posted pictures of my #6 cylinder a while back. The impressions on the piston look like a washer of some sort got in there and beat everything up. The head, the valves, the piston were all beat up badly. I can only imagine the forces transmitted through the rod bearings during that little adventure.

The engine has been pushed right on the ragged edge for the last 50,000 miles.
