Some of you might know about this, but most won't. There is a move afoot to close 9 million acres in Utah to ALL off road vehicles and mountain bikes. The bill, introduced by U. S. Rep. Maurice Hinchey of New York, would ban motorized recreation on 9. 4 million acres of public land in Utah by inappropriately designating it as Wilderness. The devastating proposal would impact the Moab, San Rafael Swell and Chimney Rock riding areas, among others. Even though you might not ride or go to these areas, you should let your representatives know your opposition before they close your area. I picked this up on the AMA website shown below, and they make it easy to contact your representatives by email. Just click on address and on the Featured Issue click on TAKE ACTION. That will take you to Action Alert and scroll down thru issue to fill out information. Entering your zip code will sent email to appropriate reps, easy.

Pretty amazing, how "representatives" and enviro-wacos will steadily seek to close down vast areas - for the "benefit of humanity and future generations", when those closures PREVENT humanity and future generations from ACCESSING them - and they continually get away with the mindless deception!

Doesn't NY have enough SERIOUS issues of it's own to keep their legislators busy? #@$%!

Nope! They have our state pretty well screwed, so they decided to spread it around to the states that are still nice.

I saw this awhile ago. I feel this is either a backdoor deal so the Utah rep could either say Hey It wasn't me or the NY'er got a nice fat donation check from some group. Did you know that there is not one square foot of New York State land the allows ATV riding? Yet all ATV's must be registered and insured unless they are used exclusively on your own private property. NY actually was charging a $15 dollar fee to create a trail system but never did anything and was using the money for other purposes. I lawsuit resulted in reimbursement to the atv owners

kenny, it isn't the utah side. they have fought recent closure issues and sought to back rs2400. the new administration in washington is now on a push to get as much of this type of land grab thru as possible. obamination has even appointed the head of blm with full knowledge that he is a member of the coalition of biological diversity (cbd) a group devoted to land closures. in fact this group, cbd, is so radical they even stopped trout plants here in california for awhile. they are true nature nazi's. unless the individual off road user starts writing their representatives and show their opposition this will continue. that was my purpose is this post. sites like the ama, make this writing easy. but it has to be done. just my $. 02 worth.

I was telling my cousin about this last night. He said that a lot of the enviromental groups that do these things get financial backing from the Saudis. Like OPEC.

Boy, does that sound believable. Closing off land to drilling and the like too.
