Has anybody try'd say a holley blue pump or pump of same type?

or so a holley volumax. you can reg them down to 10/15/20 lbs. and get pretty big ports and reg to boot, also w/ bypasses and 160/250 gph models

I just though everbody seemed to be useing malloy or carter pumps and there is a whole lot more out there. I contacted Holley to see if the pumps are comp. w/diesel and they said just not alcohol. so if you've try'd any i'd like to know what happened.

I ran a blue pump for almost 6 years staight(on a gasser) but diesel is a much better lub. than gas. there's also Aeromotive fuel pumps. I'm not selling or trying to promote a certian type, just looking at options. I'Ve been seeing some posts on failing mallory's:{andjust wounderd "WHAT IF"

"OVERKILL IS NEVER ENOUGH!!!!!" Thanks,PRORAM

I think that a fact finding mission is in order here. I feel that collectively (TDR members) we should be able to beat this fuel system into submission. Also somebody has to know somebody that works for BOSCH.

Do a search on lift pumps guys, nearly every pump out there has been tried: Holley, Barry Grant, Mallory, Summit, Carters. The aftermarket pump that is still most used after all the trials is the Mallory, but there have been failures with it - I'll let the guys who ran those talk about that. Myself I've been extremely happy with a helper pusher pump (Carter/Federal Mogul) back by the tank in addition to the stock lift pump. 40,000 miles on this setup so far and it's still holding, I went through 4 stock lift pumps in 60,000 miles before this (and 20,000 of those miles was on a bad lift pump).

Class action???

What burns my backside is that Dodge/Cummins/Bosch have been getting by with this crap. Can anybody say "customary and reasonable?" Is it customary and reasonable for these damn lift pumps to last only 20K? And to take down a $2K injection pump with it when it goes:mad: What would you do if your wife's Accord, Camry, Caravan did that?? You'd be ballistic. But we act like we expect that from the Ram pickup... . we all think Dodge & Cum-on set the moon or something. They need to be held responsible for this bit of perverse engineering, and they OWE everybody who has bought their product with this crap lift pump design. Have you seen anything from these corporations other than continual part number revisions, usually at your own expense? They sure as hell did NOT have a factory recall to replace these junk lift pumps BEFORE the lift pump failures take down a VP-44. Not that a recall would do any good, it appears that the current version isn't cutting the mustard either.

I also recall that HVAC ran a Holley pump for awhile, not sure which model but I believe it didn't last too long.

My truck has had a Mallory 140 series pump in it since January of 2000. Actually, I'm on number 3 now. The first one died after 4 months, the second lasted about 8 months and the third is in now for a little over 2 months. I've added a pre-filter as I thought that was the problem with #1's failure, seemed to help but not much. The Mallory is a great pump when it's working, it's completely rebuildable and has a dead head adjustment that allows you to dial in what psi's you want, right up to 40 psi's.

I currently have mine set at 14 psi's post filter at idle, higher than I had it set before as my thinking is that the return in the VP44 will be now fully open at idle and the pump won't be beating itself to death. Time will tell.

Personally, I'm wondering if a pump with the gerator design has tolerances that are just too tight for sustained usage with diesel. Seems that the vaned style pumps, such as the Carters in the pusher pump set up, and the Aeromotive pumps, might be a better choice for longevity.

I'm not ready to give up on the Mallory yet, but I'm pretty darn close for sure. If I do decide to try another, it will be the Aeromotive like CSutton is running with a seperate return regulator.

Thank's steve, am going to contact enterprise promptly. my truck only has 7700 miles on it but i'm not taking any chances. It just burns my a** that we have to resort to modifing our trucks just to

keep them running! Ive own'd diesels (big trucks ) almost since I started driving and have never had to "modify" the fuel system just because the fact. is to lazy or whatever to fix the prob. correctly.

My sugg. to DC is put the damn pump near the tank where it should be to begin with!!!

Thanks for letting me rant Proram

I tried the 815 and it pumped just a little better than the stock one and it didn't matter where I mounted it--OEM location or back by the tank--it's now my back up pump in case my Aeromotive dies---

HVAC used this pump also and may have used the 802 also---he's now running a Mallory or the Summit pump----chris
