Scott,

We ran the VE up to the noted RPM but it WAS pump RPM, not engine as I originally noted... I've corrected that in my first post...

Good catch bud.....

I would very much like to hear from anyone who has run these pumps up to the 450 - 500 RWHP ... . they don't have to brag, just post and provide some encouragement is all... . no one wants ALL the secrets given away at that level of performance, after all, were's the challenge in that... . a hint or two for the rest of the guys will mean that more minds/tools/time will be spent on working up the nice old trucks into respectable sleepers...

JMO..... :D:D

AC D21... ... .....

'course ya know if you want the Big power from a diesel, you don't operate it on diesel. Add a custom head, few spark plugs, some wires etc. etc.

I'll post some pics of the Cat3208 in my album when it's assembled.

AC D21, Cool!

I know the alky guys make big power, but I feel it is a cop out.

The power is there to be made with Diesel, but guys just seem to quit on it and reach for drugs and plugs. :(

I agree,I wish i could find out what the guy in the pump room at the shop did to it when asked he said he dosnt remember what all was involved. He may not it was a wile ago. Not sure if the same guy still owns the truck. somewear in P. A.

That is some hard core stuff. But the biggest killer here is that the guy claims to use the thing as a work truck on the side!

Chris,

GET OVER IT!! People that know him, say he drives his truck on a daily basis. He also races it and has broken 100 in the 1/4 mile. He's been at this game a LOT longer than you.

So just because I'm not an "expert", I can't think for myself?

Ease up guys,,, it's all good here..... lack of body language and other cue's make it harder to "interpret" the posts, so lets don't get our knickers in a bunch ok... .

Not by much, KTA is only 25. :D

He bleeds Diesel Fuel though. ;) Oh, hes not an expert, he's a hilljack.

CB, you are more than welcome to post your opinions, thats what these boards are all about.

You stated your opinions about that truck in fact form, and insinuated the owner was telling stories.

The facts on that truck that are posted are true, learn from them.

:)

I got shoes older'N that

You don't want to see the graphic I have in my mind about that statement!!!!:D :D

I have no problem understanding that an almost 500 hp truck can be a daily driver/work truck. I know a 2nd gen guy that uses a truck that powerful (actually more) for a plowing business!!

Talk about moving some snow!!!!

CB... . don't sweat the small stuff... ... I knew you didn't mean anything... . I get my Butt kicked on forums all the time for saying what I think..... Heck, the PASTOR even modified my signature once for speakin' out... . now that was a freakin' riot!!!

He IS gettin' old though... . he forgot to asses your penaly points. And you need some deduction to get you motor-vated!!!

:-laf :-laf

He must be thinkin' bout dem shoes!!!

Just a point of clarification on fuel pressure(s).....

During some VE testing we ran the pump up to 3200 RPM (pump RPM) and varied the supply pressure to the VE from 8psi to 18psi... no change in readings to merit mention... BUT, if you go below that, you will likely see issues with starvation/cavitation and what ever... . Just had this chat with nascar mark as a matter of fact...

Now those "tests" were done before new mods to my own VE, just to be fair...

For fun, you should see/listen to that 'ole VE howl at 3700 RPM... . nasty, nasty, nasty... . whip me baby, make me feel cheap... just don't mess the hair...

Pretty scary but it got up there before doing an "El Cacko"... (Canadian for crapping out)

Hey you old fart. That would be, we ran the pump up to 1600 pump rpm, which is 3200 engine rpm's. Not 3200 pump rpm... . That would be 6400 engine rpm  unless you and Gord hooked up a 671 and some nitro to the pump stand I don't think the little VE can turn that kind of rpm's.

I do know what your trying to say though old one. ;) LOL Must have been too much geritol and your depends on too tight. LMFBO

P. S.

When you going to change that sig of yours. That 373rwhp you post was with a HX50 and your pump turned to the max.

I remember some one giving me a hard time, saying you should post what you are running as a daily driver... . (Yes, I use to turn my pump up a little before dynoing, as late as last spring, but I hadn't touched my power screw in at least 8 months and dyno'd the truck as a daily driver and daily settings for the last dyno #'s posted since last spring.

Little old pump has never even been on a pump stand. ) :p

Ok, I'll turn my hat backwards now. :-laf

Ahhhh haaaaaaaa... got ya you Ole H. O. B. ::p :D:D (Hat On Backward):p :D:D.....

Ahhhh..... " He tasks me... . "

I think it was greenleaf who asked about the RPM value and engine/versus/pump etc... so... ...

I confirmed my facts with "the pump man" BEFORE I posted that, and he said " yes we ran it up to over 3200 but remember that's 1/2 the actual engine RPM, not engine or crankshaft RPM"... it was run up to 3200 and yes it did finally float and cavitate... . that's why I said... nasty nasty nasty... . X5

The honest to goodness truth is it went higher than that too... . we made it to over 3500 on a couple tries. . but it "El Cacko'd" on us each time...

One interesting thing though... . at 3450'ish (if I remember right) my pump moved more fuel/1000 than the test pump did at about 2900 RPM... I gotta look for the sheets to confirm that though...

Next item. . the pump (mine) was not "maxed" on that 373 run, it was about 1/3 - 1/4 turn from bottoming out... at that point the Hybrid 50 took me to 373 at 54psi and 1800*F... no fun... well ok, it was kinda... .

To be fair though... mark is correct. . currently I'm dialed back a touch over 3/4's of turn from bottom and, the AFC cone is at factory lean...

which gives me about 43 psi and 1600*F max readings on a posted 10% grade with a top speed of about 105. 6 mph (GPS calc. ) in OD

Now, go sit down and put two hats on backwards you toob steak. . :p

'Course we could'a both gotten some bad hair tonic though. . :-laf

Geezzzzz... ... . kids with P-Pump personality dissorder... mannnn... ...

Oh... I think the "official" spelling is. . S_T_O_O_P_I_D PUMP. .

REMEMBER "in the end, old age and trickery will win out over youth and vigor. . " were's my stick...

Pastor Bob... . and leave my geritol outta this too... :D

Not so ground humper... I mean grass hopper.

The pump stand and injection pump turns 1/2 engine rpm which means 1600 pump or stand rpm = 3200 engine rpm's. :p

Better hit the books again wee one... I mean wise one. :-laf

Nope, for now I'm gonna stick my story... . I'll even go over and have this chat just to be sure... if I'm wrong I'll do some male hairies and take a 20 RWHP .....

The only thing better'n being right, is being honest. . so I'll take my medicine...

' Course you'll have made the call before I get in right...

Yeah, I have to side with the hybrid pickup man on this one, too. I just dont see ANY pump turning 3700 on a stand and not trhowing parts outside the shop walls. I'm by no means an expert, but

3200 pump rpm

______________ = 6400 engine rpm

1/2 engine rpm

Basic math, boys. I cant think of any I-6 off the top of my head that will turn 6400 for any time w/o SERIOUS mods, though I had a 300 Ford flip a linkage on the carb and do 5000 before I hit the key.

Ahhhhhhh crap... ... ... ... ... . ;)

Ok, here goes... ... .

It seems I had the facts right with my first post (engine RPM) and not with the subsequent post stating pump RPM..... geezzz I hate it when he's right..... I'll NEVER hear the end of this you know... . :(

I shoulda stuck with my first post on this item but Ohhhh Noooo... . greenleaf HAD to confuse me didn't he... . ;);):D

I even tried to bribe the pump guy to tell Mark it was pump RPM... heck I offered a box of doughnuts, brews... . $$$$ but no takers... . darn cookies... . :D

Ok, I'm takin my medicine like a Pastor... 10 male hairies... . 20 RWHP penalty AND a week of polishing the pews... . #%@&^#% rat farts..... plus I gotta go scrape the pigeon poo from the steeple too... .

This just ain't right... . :-laf:-laf... .

Pastor Bob... doing pennance...
