More power for power steering unit?

I recently installed a set of BFG 315s on my truck.

With the larger tires the power steering unit is not able to keep with the steering wheel, like in parallel parking on pavement etc.

Is there something I can do to my existing unit to help?

Is there an after market pump with more power?

It's not major problem for me, but it feels like it might be over taxing the stock system.

So basicly they rebuild your used unit to their specs??? Did they tell you how much it would cost to rebuild one??

Look at there web site they have price there or call them. The part number they gave me has a hydraulic cylinder (and all the parts to add it in), steering pump, and steer box. I think its never similar to this one and price about the same.

Make sure you don't have your foot on the brake when trying to turn the front end. Sounds simple, but makes a difference.

I have a friend with the psc system on a 2nd Gen 4x4 it is truly night and day difference in steerin effort.

I'm confused... I've run 315 BFG ATs for 3 years now (on 2nd set) without any steering issue. I can even swing the wheel from full left to full right without moving, it groans a little but the wheels turn. What else can you expect?

What is the air pressure in the tires?? Put some more in and it should help.

I have cross over steering with Heim ends. A custom made Track bar with dual heim ends to replace DT one. AGR Box and PSC Stainless shaft not installed yet. Dual Bilstein Steering stabilizers that will most likely come off with Rock Ram.

Waiting for Rock Ram now just ordered from Summit

I thought I had read somewhere that the caster angle on your front wheel alignment can make a big difference in the effort required to turn your tires while not moving. The comment was with less caster angle, the wheels pivot with less effort required, but the vehicle has a greater tendency to wander at highway speeds. Increasing caster angle reduces the wandering, but makes it harder to turn while stopped.



Have you checked to see if your caster is at the far end of the tolerance? Just a thought. I'll be interested to hear how the Rock Ram installs and works for you (have had some steering issues myself)!
