Can someone take a set of 215s and make the holes bigger? I think they are 5X. 0105 ? IF it can be done how much bigger can you go, and would it work better than the marine injectors? What kind of increases could be had?

Thanks

It's called extrude honing when you make the holes bigger on the stock injectors, and diesel dynamics is the most popular place to get extrude hone injectors. Yes it would be better than marines because you will still have the proper spray angle.

Stock orifice on 215's and 180's is 5 holes at . 0095. 160/175 pumps have . 0090 size holes.

How much bigger you go depends on what mods you have to support it! I've seen injectors with . 022+ orifices which is like 200+ HP but they are racing only injectors.

What would it take to make them roughly the same as 370s? Since they have the right angle and all would the smoke and egts be less? Where could I send my 215 and about how much would it cost?

370's don't give 100 HP, sorry.

Matt,

I'm not guessing, my statement has been proven on more than one occasion. The 370's have been put up againts DD3's back to back on the dyno. The DD3's actually produce a few less HP (5-10) than the 370's.

Heck, I bet if you were to call Diesel Dynamics they would tell you their DD3's are the same power level as 370's. It is not a secret.

I see you are a newer member. Back when 370's and DD3's were first popular the issues of what produces more HP had been hashed out several times. You do not see much about them anymore because there are several other injector offerings nowdays. I bet if you took the time to do a search you would find out that what I am saying is accurate.

Related Question

Would you upgrade injectors with 240K miles on them or would that be a waste of money due to other parts of the injector being toward end of life? Would the upgraded injectors be good as new?

I guess TST's power increase chart is off? Unless you have a 160 pump anyway-
