Opinions wanted: I currently have DD Stage I injectors and am considering a power upgrade. Lets hear your opinions on the options below;

1. Stage II retrofit? (18k mile Stage I's for sale)

2. Fuel / Boost Module? (Which one)

3. Transmission valve body and convertor? (Heard this makes one *ell of a difference)

I have installed several of the PE boxes as well as the Banks kit. I was not convinced that either of these choices was the answer.

Looking forward to comments.

Ramkids,
While trying these boxes, was it by the “seat of the pants” method or do you mean neither gave you enough?
I tried the EZ and the VA on the DYNO with my stocker and received the following results:
VA: +40HP
EZ: +39HP (No boost elbow)

If its power your looking for why stop at Stage II when you can go to Stage IIIs #ad

Look into DTTs (Bill K) a lot of positive responses about his VBs and TCs. Bill's mods will get you to those Stage IIIs #ad

I have first dibs on the Stage Is #ad

Stage III's would definitely require the trans. work at the same time. A friend just installed the DTT VB and Convertor and is totally pumped about it. I need to get with him to drive it. His other mods consist of 4" exhaust and Banks Kit.

The PE and Banks kit impressions was totally seat of the pants, no dyno results.

I am looking for towing power. I'm not looking to turn my 3500 4X4 into a 1/4 miler, I already have that toy.

I can tell you that without a doubt you WILL trash the transmission if you add an EZ or a VA to your DD1's. Get the transmission fixed and then a mild box will really get you some power. I have driven both with DD1's and prefer the older VA and a boost module to the EZ, it has more bottom end power according to my butt-o-meter.

DTT goodies so you don't puke the stock transmission an the side of the road,
then the DD2's W/ boost module and elbow and you can tow anywhere
DD3's are not really recommended for the auto by the auto GURU.

Hey Ramkids, I haven't seen you post for quite awhile. So you caught the fever, I'm shocked. I, too, might be interested in the 4" exhaust. E-mail me if you can do it. Gene

Ramkids,

SR would be interested in the StageI's.

That way I might be able to get out of the way of those sneaky Hitch-Hikers! #ad

I'd say if you have the DD1's, and you did try an EZ with those injectors, something wasn't right.
That combination makes for a great seat of the pants feel. But it is too much for a stock auto. Unloaded you may not feel the transmission slipping, but add some load and you'll slip it and you'll know it. This will kill your transmission.
Seriously, consider transmission upgrades, then think about more power.

DD2's and the EZ together are very nice. Intake and exhaust changes are necessary, I feel. transmission mods are mandatory.
