I have a 97 Dodge Cummins Dually (manual trans) which I use to tow my race car. My trailer is a 28' enclosed Pace American which weighs about 10,000 lbs fully loaded with the car. As you can imagine, my Cummins does a good job but I'd like for it to do a little better. Since my truck is my daily driver, mileage and dependability are important. I do however want all of the power I can get though. :D :D I'm thinking of installing the TST #11 plate kit. I know that it is not "legally" rated for highway use but I would still like the extra power as long as the mileage wouldn't suffer greatly. Also, it looks like will have mandatory emissions testing on our vehicles here in the Dallas area before long. Would this kit vs the #12 cause any difficulties in that respect? Any input would be appreciated.

P. S. I already have the egt/boost guages. Haven't killed the kitty yet though. I assume that I should.

Oddly enuff, unlike a gasser, more power yields more MPG. Problem is that it's so much fun to drive that it's hard to keep your big hoof out of the firewall. :D:D:D Naturally, that blows away the MPG.

I'm with Joe go for the power and bring MPG along if you can keep out of it. As far a emmisions I think some one a while back passed with a #11 plate. Do a search and see what you find.

These fellas are absolutely right!! Get the trailer up to 70mph, set the cruise and you will see 3mpg increase... at least!

Go with the plate, it is inexpensive and you will love the increased power and throttle responce. I pull 12,000 # and with the new plate I have picked up 2 miles to the gallon. The kitty will probably have to go mine is going for a walk monday morning.

heck, you might as well go with a #10. emissions won't be a problem if you set up a valet switch. I think there's someone out there at 613 dyno'd HP who still passes emissions  Set the cruise and mileage won't be a problem:rolleyes: doubt that will happen!!

Towing Plates

I wouldn't reccomend the #10 plate for towing, without a lot of other modifications you will have wild egt's not to mention it will slip the stock clutch. The #11 plate on the other hand is very well suited for towing. If your clutch is stock it should be able to handle the #11 plate. The #11 plate really wakes up the trucks performance:D

Rebel is right about the EGT's, but who's to say what your clutch will do. My brothers 97 model still has the stock clutch and is running a 10 plate, 370's, and an HX-40. It will slip the clutch every once in a while but hasn't become a big problem yet. This doesn't mean that your truck would act similar to his but keep in mind he is probably at 420 HP. The only way to find out is to try it. Sure, in due time you'll need a clutch, but where does the bombing end? I haven't seen the end of the rainbow yet!! The way I see it, if your going to be a dog you might as well be a big one :D

Thanks

Thanks for the input guys. As always, it is very much appreciated. Great to be part of the TDR!!!
