Hey guys:

I was wondering what to do for more power. Right now my pump is at normal adjustment, I have a straight pipe, K&N, adn the newly installed 12cm housing. I'm in to heavy towing occassionaly and it's a daily driver so my main concern is EGT's. Haven't touched the fuel at all since the housing upgrade. I now hit 20 pounts of boost instead of 10. So... Do I get injectors or try to deal a buddy out of an HX-40. Which injectors, Industrial from ADT or POD's from Piers. There's quite a difference in prices, the industrial ones are supposed to give an additional 60 horse, what are the POD's worth and what is their cost?

As always, keep the gret ideas coming :D

An HX40 on a 1st gen :--) I think that the HX40 is only good for over 350hp. As far as more power, you'll notice the biggest increase by installing bigger injectors and adjusting the pump. Most popular injectors are the POD's and the PW's. I have the POD's and like them a lot. From what I've heard, if you continue to up your HP then your getrag transmission is going to become very unhappy.

J DeMaio,

Either the PW's or POD's will give you very noticeable increase in power. The PW's will not smoke as much as the POD's, however, the POD's will give you more power. With either of these injectors you should have the pump set at around 1. 4 and increase the max rpm setting to around 2900. As you may know the VE injection pump on the first gen trucks is a weak link. Increasing the fueling on the pump will affect the longevity of the pump. With new injectors you should not have to touch fueling.

I went with the PODs, and was lucky to get them shipped the last day of their sale-found the people very nice to work with too:) I did however also had my pump checked out at the same time, for fuel bleeding back at shot down-was just rebuild less than a yr ago:mad: . I also aquired the tools to set the timing of the fuel pump, well worth the expence! In which I also found my TDC pin off 4 degrees (as so many others have) My timing is now set right on 1. 5mm, even had to slip the pump timing geer a tooth or two to get it to align with the pumps mounting studs, and have the keyway in the shaft! I tell you this was beter than buying a new truck, it woke the beast up! Now when I pull out of my drivway onto the hwy, I am up to 80 befor ya know it:D If I don't watch out I will be buying 4 new rear tires too! Yes the PODs smoke a bit, but that is half the fun:D You can lay down a smoke screen, if ya want to-you will be long gone befor it clears:D Yes I say go with the PODs

on the road aginOo.
