cheese'n'rice... Ford own Cummins again...sorta long

Anyone ever seen one of these in the flesh?

Does anyone know if the 6. 7 has the rear mount turbo? I was dismayed to see the 3rd gens come out with this setup. This is not to bad mouth the 3rd gen. cuz I would have one if I could afford one. It just seems to be going backwards, when all these years, the center mount for an inline six was the way to go. Does anyone know why the change, and if there is any good or bad points. I kinda blame the rear mount turbo for the 3rd gens. high EGT's, on this feature.

Nah - it is more related to the fact that the 3rd Gens have more OEM fuel (and subsequently higher HP) than 1st or 2nd Gen trucks - they make 400hp with just a box. Combine that with the fact that they all have tiny HY-35's with 9cm² turbine housings and you can see that they'll get a bit hot compared to other generations...

O. K. , I'm not trying to repeat any info. already discussed, as I just quickly read most of the last 40 post's, but I thought I'd share some info I was told. My boss was invited to a seminar in Chicago that was based around the new emission's and such. Rep. 's from International, Cat. , and Cummin's were there. Luckily one of the Cummin's rep. s was sitting at my bosses table. My boss is big on Cummin's and has owned one or more from each generation so he decided to pick this guy's brain. My boss was told about the obvious 5. 9-6. 7 increase, the emission's, and some way of collecting soot, which is burned off after engine temp is increased with operating temp's. Then my boss asked him if the 6. 7 was going to be near 400 Horse? The guy just smiled and said "I can't give exact number's, but it'll be up around there"! Sorry if I repeated anything, but I did'nt see any thing about hp #'s, and thought I'd share what I heard. :) I guess any increase over a Chevy or Ford is good. :D

Oh, yeah, the 6. 7 will be "unveiled?" in Louisville, Kentucky at the Mid-American Truck show! Sorry if I spelled wrong?! :-laf
