No need for a long introduction. Here is the link to some news from the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA):

Spy Shots - '20 Ram 2500 Tradesman Reveals New Design

Editor's comment: Okay, new grille and lights in the front, but the bottom edge of the door tells me it is the same Fourth Generation cabin: sticking to my prediction of a Fifth Generation in 2021, maybe 2022.

Thanks, Nick. That link works.

Now, since it still has the Fourth Generation cab and, according to the words written at their web site, "a Fifth Generation truck is not expected until 2022", should this not be called "Fourth Generation .5" ?

Umm, No:) I assume the comment was kind of a joke...but just in case....
The .5 only works by the year, not generation. The cab determines generation.

What I can't understand is why Ram is so far behind the new model year? At the rate they are moving forward it wouldn't surprise me to see a complete year lost. Like Ford in '98, they made a '97 and '99 super duty but no 98. If the new heavy duty don't arrive until 2022, that means the 5th gen 1500 will be 4 years old. I am getting real antsy, Lol

Nick, we totally agree: the Cab designates the generation.

"89-'93 was First with a .5 being the intercooled "91.5 -'93 ?

"94-'02 being Second with a .5 for the '98.5-'02 24-valve ?

'03-'09 being Third with a .5 for the '07.5-'09 6.7 engine ?

'10-current (2021?) being Fourth with .5 being the whatever they call it (2019) and newer 6.7 CGI engine.

What do you think about the ".5" designations?

Or, use Porsche nomenclature and call them .1, .2, .3 designations? (I could envision a Fourth Generation 2010-2012, and then a Fourth Generation .1 being 2013-2018 and now the .2 being the new 2019-2022 CGI engine.

Well, with Mike Manley rattling his sabre like he is, they better get the lead out. Like the song says, " ...a little less talk, and a lot more action..."

I like the .5's cuz I got one, '91.5 best dang truck:)

Not sure about the .1's tho, that would confuse me more than I already am.....that would mean a '94.1 since the '94's built in '93 didn't have a "cat".....and what would we call the '13 2500, a '12.9...see what I mean:D
I am anxious for Ram to hurry up, I think the best is coming!

I snapped this while on my way back from lunch. Roush is doing some "cool weather" validation on these new heavy dutys and also on the 2500/3500s up here. I was too slow with the phone to get a picture of the non-chassis cabs......maybe tomorrow............sorry, can't get the pic oriented correctly even after editing!

ramfront.jpg ramrear.jpg I'm guessing this is a 6.4 Hemi unless FCA has lost their marbles like GM and has gone to a turbo 4 cylinder.......or electric! It sure sounded like a big v8 when it fired up. I missed a picture of the new Jeep Gladiator truck this morning........they're getting the cold weather validation in right now........without any cold unfortunately.
