Hey guys,

I toyed with the pump yesterday and can tell a minimal difference. Now, my idle speed seems to be up a bit, any suggestions?

Now im thinking of some Lucas "ole blue specials". How will they treat the Cummins with the 21 cm turbine housing? I just don't want her to get too hot. I'm needing to hear some good suggestions:D

Thank you,

John

Hi. when you turn up the main power screw your idle goes up too. You need to turn it back down. If you have an auto trans you need to check the k/d adjustment too.

Any injector is better than the one the factory put in. And the next thing you need is a 16cm exhaust housing [some like smaller].

then if you pull hills a lot or pull heavy loads get a pyrometer so there is a way to watch your egt's.

have fun -dave-

Hey guys:

Should I turn the full power screw back down or is there an idle adjustment screw? I'd say it's at 1/2 - 3/4 of a turn, smokes some but doesn't build much more boost or run any hotter. I have noticed that it seems to run better and has a little more power though:confused: I had it tweaked enough when i was experimenting that it was making 20lbs but was gettin hot fast, it got up to 1000* pre turbo but I turned it back down. Any help would be appreciated. Come on Power Wagon :D

You should be ok at 1000*F if thats Pre-turbo. Its the more accurate reading site. My personal 'nervous line' is about 1150-1200*F but thats me. Someone who actually 'knows better' may offer some insight but I think your ok there. Just make sure to watch your engine temp. (and trans temp if your an auto)

There is an idle adjustment. Its a booger to get too when you first try. You need to hang your tongue out just right while mumbling...

-I think it has a 10mm locknut (only one).

-You need to look at the front end of the screw and make sure it contacts the idle stop plate when throttle closed.

-Another check is to make sure the 'break-over' spring with pin in between ends is correct. (if you need a pic I can try scanning one in from the serv. manual. )

If your thinking of putting in new injectors, I would really look at a smaller turbo housing to bring boost up quicker. This will help reduce smoke and move a bit more air sooner.

The 16cm is quite inexpensive and will be a noticable difference from the 21cm.

JMO.

Here's a pic of the pump idle adjustment location. You need to look closely as there are two close together. The idle is the one closer to engine with only 1 locknut. (atleast thats how mine was)
