They should back up the product no matter who has it I sell Bd Transmission and I'm gonna call them and ask them about this they offer a 100k warranty on their built trannys

I broke my imput shaft a year ago and installed the Billet shaft, now the flexplate went and I have a new SFI approved H. D. flexplate. Just a warning the Heavy Duty flexplates are cheap $150. 00. Do it your first chance, is saves on towing costs as it is sure to happen, if you drive hard and have a Bombed truck.

Kyle, what did they say?

Will BD cover the hard parts in the transmission?

The input shaft is an OE part,, I don't think it should be covered, now, if you buy a billet, and it breaks, I think it should be covered.

On the flexplate,, I've been there, and done that too.

It seems as though many of us do research on parts (such as transmissions) prior to buying a used truck. Many of us also pay a little more if the truck has a transmission manufactured by ATS, DTT or Suncoast. I am shocked to hear that the second owner of a vehicle would be denied warranty coverage because he did not spend the money originally? Sounds like an easy way out of a warranty repair to me. And, if this is standard policy, are people being told about this when they buy the transmission? Nothing like this was said to me ehen I bought mine (suncoast).

Using the excuse that the transmission companies dont know how the truck was driven/maintained by the new owner makes no sense at all. How do they know how it was maintained in the first place?

I would love to know how much of an increase in business these companies (not just Suncoast DTT or ATS) have seen do to the product reviews on forums such as these. In fact, we have seen products introduced on these pages go on to be very popular. Products which would have a limited market if not for the boards.

My opinion is if you warranty an item, its a warranty PERIOD. Companies should stand behind it and back up their claims.

The guy that bought my truck did so because he had read about upgraded transmissions here. He chose mine over a truck with a stock transmission. This should mean something, right? Now if something goes wrong, he has no warranty?

We should think about issues such as these when we reply to a post about how great our favorite company is. For the record, if Suncoast told the guy I sold my truck to that there was no warranty as he is not the original owner of the trans, but that they would help him out by discounting the r/r, I would not be satisfied. I dont see how this acceptable to ANY of us. Ryan

What could be an answer to the Warranty porblem is do as the Vechicle makers do give a standard warranty then if you want to warranty the next owner you could get an upgraded warranty for a few $$$$ more. This way I don't have to pay for the extra coverage if I don't want to. It would be our choice. I for one have had super warranty coverage from ATS on broken and abused parts, and the building of special parts for my application. Bellflower transmission has been more than fair to me, on my repeated visits when I brake the next weak link.

Does anyone think it may be the violent lcok of the converter? I broke what I believe to be my inputshaft last week. I haven't pulled the transmission yet but am almost positive that's what happened.

I was only running EDM Mach 2. 2's, towing nothing, and just easing off of a stoplight. When the ATS converter locked up I lost everything but Park. My ATS locks up hard and drops my RPM's drastically, so much that it barks my turbo routienly. The shearing for has to be ridiculous.

My queston is what are they making the new "Billet" shafts out of? I called DTT and apparently it's a secret. I want one out of Enkenel (is that spelled right?) Or a waranty that Gaurentees I'm not going to do this again under the same conditions.

Anybody know about the new material they are using?

Dave Goerend told me when they built mine that I had lifetime on convertor, 100,000 on transmission and none on shafts. (I kept the stockers) Could have had billet and then they would warranty that also. Never asked about transfer of warranty, not planning on getting rid of my truck. It will be my 8 year olds first truck, I should be able to find a nice 98 QC black sport 5 sp. by then. LOL

Not trying to start any arguments, just the obvious. The people reporting broken shaft at light or moderate throttle is of one particular brand. How many DTT or Suncoast have you seen? What I am getting at is, when you rely on lockup for transmitting the power to the wheels, sooner or later something is going to break. My 98. 5 does not shift locked 2-3. Perhaps later models do. It will shift locked 3-4, but I do not let it. (keep the smart controller off when not needed) Since there is not much difference in lock and unlock why take the chance? When my upgrade was done there were no billett shafts, so that was not an option for me. My drive way is paved and it is a good sharpe hill to the road. My wifes mini van has to have plenty of gas to get up it, yet my truck will IDLE out with a 17k 5th wheel behind it. It will idle 12-15 mph in a level parking lot, and up shift to 2nd  . What I'm saying is, that if you rely on lockup you best pop for the latest shafts and flex plate. jm 2c

added: I have the lowest rated t/c and valve body. 89% with "Livestock" valve body (NO BULL) :-laf

I have a 98-12v with a ATS, triple lok conv. And I twisted my input shaft off off under lite load to. But Clint did not have HD input assy,s when I got my trans. I love my ATS trans. And its what all the winning pulling trucks use!!!!!

ats has a new converter (sharks tooth) with much better fluid coupling. i dont feel like have to lock up the transmission anymore. no huge rpms drops either. i have the new input and converter but i am still scared to lock it up. if s/ pops now it will be sitting for months and months. later

I want one out of Enkenel (is that spelled right?)

Inconel (A nickel "superalloy") is superb for keeping its strength at high temps (turbine rotors and exhaust valves are commonly made from it), but there are better options for all-out strength and shock loading applications.
