I am sorry if this is a little long, Last March I bought a 2001 2500 4X2 with the 6spd. First car/ truck I have ever bought from a dealer (used from a dealer) It had a banks power pack/ spray in bedliner and a roll up tonneau cover. It was in mint condition. $21,000 and 35,968 miles. I bought a extended power train warranty for about $60 a month. When I bought it they said the kit does not void any warranty. 9 months later I know a lot more then I know then. I have downloaded the installation manual for the banks kit and it clearly illustrated (picture included) taping in to one of the wires going to the VP44. I also found http://dodgeram.info/tsb/2002/14-002-02.htm There was also a 30 day warranty form the dealer. I had to bring the truck in the next week after I got it for a new transmission. ( another long story) Instead of eating the cost of the transmission they put it on my extended warranty and they paid the $100 deductible. Never fixed one of the problems, again another story. So now to the present time I first called the salesman that sold me the truck he got a little nervous and told me I had to talk to service, service told me I had to talk to sales. So I call the sales manager. He was telling me that it would only void the warranty on the wire going to the Vp44. Ok so the 20psi more of boost 145 more hp and 288 lb-ft of torque as advertised by Banks does not? That is good to know
And then he tells me that he will make some phone calls and let me know more. I told him about the TSB and the instructions from banks but he said the guy who did it knew what he was doing and would not have done something to void the warranty. So he calls me back the next day and tells me that he spoke to the guy who owned the truck before me and told me that he owned a speed shop and was an authorized Banks installer and that the kit does not void any warranty's and the engine is safe to run at 50 psi of boost. So moral of the story my truck is warranted at that dealer but what about the others? Should I just cancel the warranty on my truck since it might be void anyway or should I keep it? And should I go further and call Chrysler? Any Idea's would be appreciated
