I saw that old F10A Was working the Waterbury Branch this week from Last Thursday 11 Jan 06 till yesterday. Today 18 Jan 06 the World's Uglist Diesel locco is back :{ Moose00

Nice sighting Moose! Glad to hear it's still being put to use. If only I could be in your place to see ol' 413 in action, but I'm 3000 miles to your west



rbatelle that's some old rail. . . does it still see traffic? The Blue Mountain RR here in the NW has some old rail. The line from Walla Walla to Dayton is all 70-lb 1898 vintage rail. The oldest in the yards is 55-lb stuff that came out of the foundry in 1890. I have a video of two locomotives treading VERY carefully on it.



Speaking of RR museum the relics in this photo of the Central Oregon & Pacific will likely end up in one as soon as they're taken down this year. Semaphores are fun to watch, and the COPR has 30 semaphores remaining in service. They were installed in 1912, and are coming down in 2007 http://www.alpharail.net/corp/corp.htm

Kevin, finally able to take your advice and visited Cass RR this past week. Shay #2 was doing the work quite capably, and that old girl has some obvious grunt! Any steam fan should make the trip.

OK you wanted the most dependable - well having been around one of these for a lot of time in the 50's - nothing like an all wheel drive STEAM POWERED SHAY!!!!! NOTHING could climb like them - unless it was a cog RR.....
