I had an 01. 5 SO/47re with 3:55 gears that I traded at 56000 miles. It still had original brakes, tires, etc. I changed one license plate light bulb while I had the truck, that's it. Regularly hauled 10000# tractor/bushog.

The 03 I have now has 30000 miles and it has been a dream. Had some minor electrical issues (speedometer bouncing, false gauge lights, etc), and a couple TSB's performed. After finding a good dealer all issues were resolved in one day. So far, next truck will be Dodge as long as they keep dropping the Cummins in them.

33 K on mine. Have not had one issue empty, pulling toy hauler or anything. Keep an eye on the guages and rock on! I hope this does not sound like a flame on Dodge, but the greatest asset of this rig is the Cummins under the hood.

I have 29K on my 03' 3500 srw 4x4 eth/dee. No problems, just a few tsb's... alt. bracket, low diff. oil, all u-joints replaced (Vibration).

I only have 25,000 on mine, but I'm pretty happy as I've never had to return to the dealership since I bought it! No problems. Zip. Nada. Nothing. Squat... ... . well, you get the picture :D

Dave

48,000 today; will have over 50,000 by Monday. No problems.

Mileage varies greatly based on speed when towing. If I run between 75 and 78mph towing 12,000lbs with a lot of surface area my mileage is almost half what it is running and even 70mph! At 70mph: 10. 5mpg. At 78mph: 6mpg. So now the cruise stays at 70! Why they don't slope the front of the fifth wheels any more is beyond me... towing a flat panel dead into the wind thats 13 feet tall!

146,693 miles

Got in today just after lunch and had 146,693 miles on my odometer. The engine has never been touched. I have had only four problems with the truck. Leaking power steering pump, replaced under warranty, bad limited slip unit, replaced under warranty, lost the rear u-joint at around 105k, and the fan clutch went out at 134k. I run hotshot and close to 90% of these miles are with a big gooseneck trailer behind it. I know some people where I work that are running Fords that sure wish they had stayed with Dodge. They thought they needed a little heavier truck, went to a 450 and 550 Ford. They are paying for it now. There is nothing they can do with those trucks that I can't do with mine as far as pulling a trailer goes. Our company won't let us put more than 16k on the trailer which bring the trailer up to between 20 and 22k gross.

I hate to admit it, but Casey's right about that. I have several friends that have the 7. 3 PSD's and they have all been very happy with them. That being said, my first diesel was a Ford and the next three have been CTD's:D :D . My next one will be another Cummins, I just love 'em.

Dean

Yep, the 7. 3s have been reliable compared to the 6. 0s. I too had a Ford with the 6. 9L as my first diesel pickup and am on my 4th CTD. This is the best one yet!

Even my brother, who has blue oval paint in his blood, is thinking of going to a CTD for his next truck.

I made 100K but then lost the transmission and hydro boost. I pull up and down the Alaska Highway at up to 23K. Pretty hard use (abuse).

I think yogibear had 23k+ back in december or so. . Not sure where he is now.

Where you been David? Last I knew Yogi passed 170,000 miles :-laf

He had 117,000 when he stopped by here in Jan or Feb.

So far running great from what I hear :)

Got the truck I talked about previously with 279,000 on torn down today. Melted #4 piston and scored cylinder wall and melted valves into cylinder head. #4 aftermarket injector had 20,000 miles on stuck wide open caused the damage.

hmmm. without starting a war, do you have any idea what brand injector it was? If you don't feel comfortable putting it in the thread, can you drop me a PM?

35K and no problems, have a fuel/timing box but never any codes... haven't even had to change the brakes yet... when I had my 96' I had already changed out front brakes twice at this mileage! Very happy with this truck, it is a pleasure to drive.

Hi. I have 150,000 and counting--50% hauling trailers -- goosenecks. I change oil 7,500m - Amalie 15/40 - fuel filters 15,000. No problems.

Yellow jacket Oo.

250k+

The neighbor has an 03 with 250K last time I looked. He hotshots from coast to coast. His ate a lift pump @ 160K, If I remember correctly. 3rd set of brakes on now, and second clutch, but not a hiccup from the Cummins. DK.

Yeah there was a post about a stock injector doing the same thing. Blew a hole right through the piston. What did the rest of the cylinders look like?

Vaughn

The other 5 cylinders are fine, no scoring or ridge in cylinders. But the turbo is damaged from debris going through it, won't hardly turn by hand and compressor wheel hitting housing and edges damaged. No hole in piston but very close to going through.
