IIRC Dodge did make a high performance ecm (well what they would call high performance anyway) for these trucks. It was not a reflash but a new ecm with different programming and was $1000ish if I remember correctly. I also think it was only for 98. 5-2002 standard trucks and maybe even only for the ho trucks. I wonder if they even sell them any more. Used to see adds for them sometimes I think even in the TDR mag.

I doubt they have had any ecm updates in the last 5+ years for a 2nd gen but maybe.

Once you get a reflash to a higher number software I dont believe you can go backward for instance if you dont like it as the dealer only has the newest version. I also think the dealer is the only one who can flash the ecm as they are the only ones who have it since it is proprietary software, at least I have never heard of anyone else being able to do it.

Some old timers here may remember some vendors got in trouble from dodge for hacking the ecm and changing it. This was previous to the smarty. I think Marco (smarty) got around that by rewriting the entire thing not just editing it like had been done previously.

The Smarty does have the latest stock software loaded into it at least at the time of manufacture of the smarty.

The above is just my recollection and is full of maybe's and I think's so take it for what it is worth, just ask my wife about my recollection abilities.

So Cummins cannot do much in the way of "flashing" an engine ECM in a Dodge application? I'm gathering it's probably a "no".
