im in bad need of motor mounts. ive done the trans mounts 2 times now, and everthing is real tight feeling an nice for about a week, maybe two, then it all gets slops and clunky again. bolts are as tight as theyll allow for.

my question is this, are the motor mouts for a D250 the same as a W250?

if you look on the rock auto website for 1989-1993 cummins motor mounts, all i can find is 2wd ones. are they the same?

RockAuto Parts Catalog

thanks

Jimmy, I wanna say they're the same but I can't confirm until I have a gander at my D250. Anybody else??

Jeez, I'm with Sam, I think so, but not for sure!

I just tried to change my trans mount tonite. The rubber broke loose and the trans was off to the side about an inch. When I put the nuts on the new one, I found the old one was american thread, and the new is (was) metric! WTF! #@$%!

ok thanks guys. let me know if yall find anything. id like to order some mounts by this weekend if possible.

yea pete those transmission mounts are fun aint they :D there not too bad, i got it down now, after having done it 2-3 times. i now am running the poly mounts. lots of vibration through the truck, but they are would probly be awesome if i had a good set of motor mounts ahead of them.

the guy who had the truck before me had the trans mounts replaced aparently, cause the passenger side one, had the top rubber peice as the load bearing one, and the big one on top! absolutly rediculous! the trans was at an angle like crazy. those were so worn the rubber sleves were almost worn through. and the second set of factory mounts i put it, the new sleves got practically fussed to the bolts. by the was, factor mounts aint worth a ****. get some pollys.

Concur - upon a visual inspection, my D250 has the same mounts... and I think the same motor mount brackets... as the 4x4 version.

Jimmy, mine was a piece of cake to do. I put a jack under, removed bolts/nuts. Then jacked it up, leaned over the side of the frame, and swapped mounts. I had to pry it sideways a little to get the studs thru the hole, but no biggie. Having the cab off has it's benefits! ;) :-laf

How much was the poly mount?

thanks guys. i really preciate it. im going to order the mounts now asap.

pete, did you have to unclamp the dp from the turbo housing? the poly mounts were about $30-35. got em from Johnny Spiva. his site was listed on here before. im sure you can find it somewere.

What turbo housing? No housing, no turbo, no manifold, no cab, no nuttin! I'll get a pic up so you can see.

I saw Johnnys name on here, I can find it. Thanks! ;)

I just swapped all the mounts on the engine/transmission. I would advise to unclamp both radiator hoses and the charge air cooler hoses. The motor has to lift quite a bit, just till the head starts to hit the fire wall.

Well, I checked my motor mounts, 1 is starting to seperate. I guess I better change them now, as opposed to when I whomp on it and jam the fan into something it ain't spoda hit!

I bought two motor mounts and the transmission mount from Autozone finally. One motor mount is from China, the other from Israel. The transmission mount is from Indonesia. Its rediculous.

The motor mounts looked different. I liked the one from Israel better so I told them to order me another. Of course the PN is the same so its a crap shoot as to which you'll get. Luckily the re-ordered one was from Israel.

Is it too much to ask that when I get two parts the same... they are actually the same??? Autozone acted like I was being too picky. I told them they can re-order the mount or they can have all three back. So they did.

Jimmy, here is a pic. I finally got good enough weather to take some! I have one of the other side too. It looks slightly better, I have the ATS on! :-laf

OH! I forgot to mention the new motor mounts will likely have metric threads... 12MM X 1. 75 IIRC, so check it before you thread the original nuts on!:eek:#@$%!

Thanks Paychk! I just found that out on my trans mount. #@$%!

Too late, of course! :{

Ross, not really! Lots of room this way! ;) If you do a cab swap, this is the time to paint the frame, change front springs, paint the engine, change the manifold, and a whole bunch of other stuff. :-laf
