I tried this about a month ago. I put clean motor oil right out of the bottle in the fuel. It was 20-50. The amount was about the size of a coffee cup at every fill up at the fuel station. I noticed that I had started losing a little power. Well I pulled off the fuel filter. It felt a little heavier than normal. I dumped the fuel filter out of the filter. It had a milky green look to it. Not the clear green look that I usually would see. So if anyone else has this idea it really didn't benifit any at all. After installing the new filter the truck came alive agone. I will probably change the filter again sooner than I normaly would. I think the may be more of that motor oil at the bottom of the fuel tank.

Automatically, the thing that snaps right into my mind is that at the time you had a tank of hydrated diesel fuel (water mixed into the fuel). When you added the oil into it, the oil did what it would do when in contact with any water, turn into a thick, milky slime. Add a bottle of water dispersant into the tank, and buy your fuel elsewere. If in doubt, carry an empty snapple bottle with you and test before you fill your tank. Hydrated fuel has a cloudy look to it, while good clean diesel is a clear golden color. If your cat is gone, or you don't have one, you can mix some new oil in. I usually put about a quart into a full tank.

Ok Chris,,Answer me this,IF the reason you are adding the new oil to lubricate the pumps, both the lift and P7100 on our beloved Rams and the chance of what happened here to him could happen to anyone(since we all know how fuel stops watch their tanks for water)WHY DO IT??,,I mean from a non-educated person here, one would only have to think with all the accepted additives out there able to do it with no adverse problems I'd think oil in the tank is old school,,Not to mention on the oft chance you get a meeting with the fuel police(a. k. a. a random fuel test WHICH NJ is well known for)and the fuel comes up with a UNAUTHORIZED additive in it,LARGE fines will accompany this,,Now for those who say they have NEVER been checked, your time WILL come, its happened to me and thank god I was legit,,It was early one Monday morning heading west on I-80 in NJ,after a weekend at NE dragway, towing my race car home they were checking all trucks, big and small diesels, for illegal fuel,,Why take that chance, todays additives not only lubricate but, some even use cetane to boost the efficency of the combustion of the fuel,,This oil in the fuel deal kinda reminds me of the old transmission fluid and other things into the fuel for the same reasons,,So I'm not sure why anyone would want to do it?????????... ... .

Well, I use Stanadyne additive. A while back my Mustang was stolen and I have about half a case now of Redline synthetic oil left. No use for it, labels falling off the bottles. So I choose to burn it. As far as the roadside stops, My name is Chris, I wear a badge.
