When driving, usually underlight throttle the truck will kinda " Hiccup" A very quick loss of power for just a split second. Feels just like when you hit the speed limiter. Any ideas. It has only done this about 6 times in 20,000 miles but odd none the less.

I have over 42,000 mi. on my truck and I experienced what you are talking about for the first time this past week-end. Seemed like everything just quit for a split second. It didn't stop running but was very disconcerting. I have no idea what may have caused it but hope it doesn't happen again.

I have noticed this too, on my truck. It always seems to happen between first and second gear and as already stated, under light throttle. When under medium to heavy throttle, it seems to go away, or maybe go through it so quickly you don't notice it? So far the engine and trans are stock, any ideas out there?

I know all to well what the problem is guys. It is your boost sensor going not working properly. It is because of oil from the K&N getting into it. I have replaced mine 3 times and finally went to a paper filter the last time. Cummins or TST has new ones for about $40. You need a deep well 1 1/4 inch socket with an extension to replace it.

Hmmmmmm Can you look at the sensor and see the oil? I am pretty sure that I had this problem before the K&N.

KiethW75, mine has done this too and I do not use a K&N filter and have never had one. I think there may be more to this story.

I am not sure it is the K&Ns fault but Cummins and Mark Chapple thought it was. The only thing I can be sure of is that replacing it fixes the problem. Something has to be casuing it since I have had 3 bad in 55,000 miles. I am running 46 psi of boost and wondered if maybe the extra boost caused the oil to be sucked out of the filter or something. Not sure. Glad I am not the only one with the problem. Hope we can figure this out.

Mine has only stumbles 4 times in the past 15,000 miles. It was just a split second stumble on the highway, almost didnt feel it. If it gets real bad I might think about taking it in. It happened the first time just before the K&N filter went on. This was with just a thousand or so miles on it, so I know it wasnt K&N's fault.

One thing you might look at is the Crankshaft Position Sensor..... mine went out after a few times of stumbling getting on the highway or light throttle applications... . it would feel like something was grabbing the back bumber and jerking it. The tach needle would bounce just a little also. It might be several other things too, but that's what happened to mine. Sounds like something electrical to me.

There's a TSB that reflashes the ECM that's supposed to fix the stumble. Mine had the stumble that was really violent pulling a 15K lb 5th wheel. Used to happen about every 500 to 800 miles. I had the ECM reflashed, but it stumbled a few times afterwards. I was gonna take it back to the dealer, but it fianlly quit stumbling.

Hope this helps,

Wiredawg

Thanks for the suggestion. I just started having a problem where it felt like I had a trailer behind me all the time tugging on me and I couldn't figure it out. I even though it might be tires or wheels but wasn't. I will try replacing me Crankshaft Pos. Sensor today and see what it does. Back to the Mapp or Boost sensor problem, it is sad but I had mine to two different Dodge dealers here and the first didn't even know the diesels had the Boost sensor and I had to show it too them by popping the hood and the second never thought to check it so finally I fixed it myself and the next time I was in to the second dealer the Service Manager asked me if it fixed the problem and when i told him yes he said several other people had similar problems and they told them they couldn't figure out the problem. That is **** sad!! I guess if you can't fix your truck you are just screwed... One more thing is the boost sensor is about $40 from Cummins and around $100 from DC.
