motor rust

I bought 2005 CTD and the motor has rust on the block ,head ,etc.

Just a orange surface rust. Does anyone have this ? What can be done for this problem. I don't mean to be picky, but when we have to pay such high prices for these trucks they should be perfect when we get them!!!!

mine has it too but it doesn't hurt anything, it just looks bad.

They all get that... Maybe spread some naval jelly on the rust,,,, hose off. That will stop the rust dead in it;s tracks.

Bear in mind that iron rusts differently from steel. Iron will form a layer of surface rust and stop there, the oxidation having sealed the underlying iron away from a source of oxygen. No oxygen, no rust. So if you decide to remove the layer of rust and hope to prevent any more from growing, you must remove all the rust and seal it with a very tough paint.



A better idea might be to simply paint over the rust. Since the rust itself has sealed the iron and will not "grow" any further, the paint will remain in place.
