Any one out there know anything about motorcycle trike conversions? I'm thinking about a '98 Gold Wing with a Motor Trike conversion. I never really thought about these before, but it looks like it might be fun. Kinda curious as to what I should be watching for other than obvious wear, tear and damage. I don't know much (anything) about Gold Wings. Any ideas??

Actually

These are built by some friends of mine down in Sante Fe. They will build ANY combination engine, transmission, rearend combo for you. Have even expressed intrest in diesel! They have built them for the past 12 years and have a good track record. One of them has a 454 Cheby with duals. The only thing they won't do is put a standard transmission in one, they tried it and there is no way to hold it straight.

I rode one with a 327 in it and can tell you, that much fun should be illegal. Unbelivable power, and very stable. Frontend stays put, and you get pinned to the seat! Glance down at the speedo after 6 seconds =100mph! They put hitchs on em and pull small camp trailers like nothing. Plus they get around 20mpg, after all V-8s of this size are usually pulling 5-6000#s around, they don't even breathe hard at highway speed.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I know big horsepower and minimum weight make for great fun. Wife is trying to break me of that habit. She says it is somehow bad. That's where the trike idea came from. I think she means the big Gold Wing with stereo, CB, cruise control, etc, is much more suitable for an old guy.

Think I'll humor her and try it.
