Cool tee shirts

Where do you keep your pistol in truck? Any under seat holsters?

Hi guys,

I went to the Nationals in June last year and we toured the Cummins plant there ... (BOY! What a place!!) anyway, they build the doge 5. 9 and the motorhome 5. 9 at the same time... The Compressors for the air systems was on the side the Starter we have and the starter on the other side.

On our trucks, on the passenger side, there is a plate and a plug in the bell plate. Would the compressor for the moho's fit here and work?. I have been looking at 12vlt compressors but this would be all the time like the york systems.

If it does work, where could you get the compressors?

hole on passenger side

The hole on the passenger side is for a barring tool to rotate the crank manually. I don't know about a compressor, except it would turn a heck of a lot of RPM's if it were hooked up there.

The round plug is for the barring tool, I dont know what the two bolt plate is for?

I haven't seen a motor home engine but I'd bet they run the air compressor off the accessory drive where our power steering pump is and drive the P/S pump in a different way, maybe off the back of the air compressor. I have a 5. 9 and an 8. 3 industrial engines and the 8. 3 has a Cummins air compressor direct mounted to the accessory drive.

Doesn't the new ISBe engine have the gear drives at the back of the engine? I am sure that the compressor is driven by the accessory drive.

The two bolt plate is for access to remove the screws that fasten the torque convertor to the flex plate. It does not provide access to the ring gear so that something could be driven.

I believe there is a compressor that will go on the back of the gear case on a 12V . You would have to lose the vacume pump and get an electric one . I saw one on E-Bay , and that was the info I got about it.

If I'm not mistaken the problem with trading the vacuum pump for the Cummins compressor is that it's too big, the wheel well gets in the way.

From the research that I have come up with it is the motor mount that gets in the way. The biggest problem though the P/S pump.

You have to change to a smaller pump with out a reservior on it. then mount a remote reservior. The parts are available. F*rd and Freightliner both use them. I have been collecting the parts. I have most of the brackets and the reservior. I need to get the compressor and p/s pump. I am going to use an electric vacuum pump from F*rd.

All of that said I am seriously looking at the Onboard Air system. It it easy to install, economical, and just as effective. Another advantage is that you are not turning the compressor all of the time like you are with a truck system.

Thanks for all the replies, I have the Quick air 2 system right now but it is slow, I have a space for the $700 Compressor from OBI But was looking for whatever else was available.
