The best camper ?

i have a 93 31ft. coachman santana class A DOG! it is on IH frame. i believe the rearend is a dana 80 with 373 gears. it has allison542 transmission and is 190 horse 5. 9ctd(#44778613) engine. it has larger injectors installed(larger than stock),but falls on her face at 2100 rpms which is between 60&65mph. would 3k gov. springs do the trick, and bump the timing, maybe move the stock plate forward. any coments would be greatly appreciated, (dont know alot about 1st gen ctd) is the pump easier to work on than the 7100? tnx denny! summers coming in the northland!!!!;)

You might try calling Diesel Dynamics. They do motorhome upgrades. They may be able to help answer your questions.

You might post on the "first generation" section. I'v got a 90 5. 9 in a motor home and have started to do some upgrades reccommended there. There is a list of steps in the first few permant threads. You are fully loaded every time in a motorhome so I've been looking for the top end info. Sound like you get going pretty well already.

Denny;

Jgolden hit it on the head. Read the sticky threads posted in 1st gen on improving the VE pump.

Did you dump the 5th wheel?
