Brake Squeal

Driving "blind" on EGTs

Hi, just about to install my new Prodigy brake controller in a 04 Ram. I would like some ideas where to mount this controller.

I was thinking of below the steering wheel to the right on the panel that is on a 45 degree. Any other great ideas would be most welcome.

I have mine mounted in the same location as you described. It is not in the way and is easy to get to for adjustments. Good location.

I have mine mounted there to. I like it cause I can see the controller through the steering wheel and it's easy to reach down and adjust. If I had to do it over again I would put it back in the same spot.

Thanks guys! I think I'll go with that location. I just wish though that auto manufactures would install these brake controllers at the factory. Seems that with installing a factory tow package the controller should be part of it?

Prodigy mounting

I mounted my Prodigy in the left side of the 'junk slot' above and to the right of the ashtray. That way it is very close to where my hand is when I shift into 3rd or 5th, and extremely handy when needed. When you need to grab the lever on the bottom for quick max braking, (hopefully not often if at all) I wouldn'twant to be having to vend forward and reach down onto the panel in front of my knees. It is right there, and very handy when needed in a hurry. . The only caveat is that you need to shim under the front just a little to have the rear angled down very slightly... Not hard to do...

yycguy has a good suggestion. The trucks with the tow package should come with a factory mount trailer control of ones choice for the unexperienced installer.

YYCGUY,

Just too be different ... ... I installed mine on the bottom left of the steering column access panel. In view from the drivers seat and easy location to work on. Only hitch (pardon the pun) :) is that I have to unplug the module from the wiring harness and mounting bracket to work behind the access panel, which isn't a big deal as I rarely work down there. I have yet to need to manually apply the brakes, the Prodigy works so good, so reaching it while driving is not an issue, yet. Once your Prodigy is set you can pretty much forget it. But, it's very assuring to look down and see the numbers climb as the forward inertia builds the harder you brake.

Also, despite what one might think, this left mount position has yet to be a shin or knee scraper for my 6ft frame.

Best of luck and enjoy your new toy... I do mine :)

Just moved mine today from the Yukon to the 600. That position below the steering wheel on the right is perfect! Found the Dodge cord locally for ten bucks. Hardest thing was getting my big paws up there to get that brake harness loose.

Well I mounted mine down to the right below the steering column as well, I find it looks good there and is reasonably easy to access.

My dealer mounted mine---just to the right of the steering column, under dash. Easy to see and adjust.

So I take it the Prodigy can be mounted at an angle? I will most likely be getting the Prodigy and wish to mount it on the knee bolster like others have done. Is there a "maximum" angle it cannot exceed?
