Thanks, TDR Staff

Iditarod Starts Today

Just wanted to thank everyone here for the help over the years. Hopefully I have ben a benefit to some here as well. I've learned a LOT.

I do not plan on renewing my subscription to the TDR, and my ability to post will be gone on 10/1. Due to the lack of time, changing interests, and with most of the questions asked now are ones I've already answered more than once, I no longer have anything to add. It is all in the archives.

I spend most of my time over on The Diesel Garage now (same username), but even that is slowing down. Still on the DTR some, but not much.

Thanks again to all,

Bryan

Take care Bryan, I'll miss your posts. Sadly, most of the familiar guys are leaving here or moving into newer trucks. I used to spend hours reading all the new info and ideas and now it is like you said, mostly rehashed questions on the 10th time around.

Sad to see you go, Bryan... There is nothing we can do to change your mind??? We are part of the old school TDR class, and we are a vanishing breed, however times change, and so does our outlook on things. . I wish you the best, and keep in touch!

Thanks guys. I really appreciate it.

Knowing me, I'll probably come back at some point, but as of right now, I've been so busy the past 3yrs that I'm letting pretty much all of my subs go. Magazines and all. The little bit of spare time I do have, and if I'm home early enough, I'm usually over at my parents house to see my dad, brother and sister since mom passed away in Aug (cancer).

Something to keep in mind is we saw this same sort of thing in '02 when the new model was about to come out. Not quite as much then because the aftermarket was really just ramping up but we still saw it. We're about to see a new truck next year (unless given the market/economic conditions that plan changes) and will bring new material again.

I've long said that there's 3 different stages to our truck passion. First is when your truck is new and for the first few years as you mod the heck out of it and get it exactly the way you want it. This seems to take about 3 years and 60 or 70,000 miles. Next is the middle years where your truck is exactly the way you want it and things aren't wearing out/breaking yet and you just pile on the mileage - another 3-4 years and 70-100,000 miles. Then there's the last stage where your maintaining/repairing things that are wearing out. It's at the first and 3rd stages that the TDR has it's biggest value and in the middle stage is where you have a lot to offer the new guys in the first stage. This is my experience having watches thousands come and go.

Sorry to see you go.

Just like being retired, not enough hours in a day to do all you want, monthly magazines not read, piles of begging letters, promising E-Mails someone trying to share a spare $10,000,000 with me, no, I have all the money I want, and having a hard time spending all I have now, surely don't want to be encumbered with more, offer it to the more deserving, people running for office a good start. Sorry to see anyone leaving TDR, but as is said for a good pal, human or other wise, 'Gone but not Forgotten', All the Very Best.

Thanks guys. I really appreciate it.

I completely understand what you are saying Steve. However, in my case, all work and no play... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ..... Pretty much spend all my time running a long hood W900L. Have only been able to drive the Ram less than 5k a year, vs the 15-20k a year I used to put on before buying my first house, which is closer to work. And, more often than not, I just drive the W9 home. A lot less hassle than going back to the farm most of the time. I've put on 85k happy miles and counting. :D Just not as fast as I used to.

I can sure tell ya, the Ram is still a blast to drive, even after 7 years. Oo. Anytime I'm get the itch for a newer one, I just turn up the power some more. ;) But, it is pretty much where I want it now.

The few repairs I have needed, have been very minor, other than a trans rebuild. Need some front-end work, but I'll probably have to farm it out. No time to mess with it. :{

Thought about you the other day when I came across the pics and videos from Minooka. Look me up over on DTR or Cumminsforum some time I go by haulin-rv .

Man you hit the nail on the head right there! That sums it up for me, I'm in a bombed worn out truck stage :D. I find it's getting a little boring in the 12V forums since most posts seem like beating a dead horse these days and a quick search would probably answer most questions. I've thought about letting my subscription run out but being able to dig up the info I need when I'm busted and still help someone out when I have the time to check in is still worth the subscription to me. Plus if I didn't get the mag every quarter then what would I put on my toilet tank :-laf

Bmoeller, while I don't think we've ever crossed paths I admire the high post count. To me that shows a lot of helping people out over the years which takes knowledge experience time and willingness to help out in the first place so good on ya! Happy trails.

Dang Bryan! You were one of the very first guys I ever emailed when I started lurking back at the beginning of 04. Im gonna hate to see you go for sure bud. In fact I bought my first mod from you... a tiny brass elbow and a turbo shield (which I still have around). I also remember all your encouraging words when I lost my wife... . its because of guys like you that Ive kept my subscription going even though I havent had time to read the last 3 editions of the TDR magazine that are stacked right here in front of me. You have my deepest sympathy and my prayers for your mom also. I hadnt heard until now friend. Best wishes friend and have a safe trip wherever the roads may lead you.

Brian I'm going the same as you. Even with the 07 I still don't find it as it was in the good days of Nowel, Brandon and the rest. I have gotten back into the hotrods and going to the car shows and such and have not even been on the site more than a dozen times this year. Take care and good luck, keep the shinny side up and the greasy side down!! Mike

You're right, it isn't quite the same, but it is still a great site. I'm still interested in trucks, but more into the BIG trucks. :D

After 28 years I let my class A go last April, I did not like all the new rules and junk they have imposed on us, plus most of the drivers around here have no manners and are rude. I'll still lurk on here now and then.
