I am somewhat new to the site, I still have my 03 Quad cab, just put 285/70/17 10 ply Toyo AT on it. 3750 per tire!!! The truck actually rolls very easy with tires at 80 psi. I just had my transmission rebuilt by Garmons diesel. I am considering the MP-8 or the Smarty? I want performance, but I drive very economical all the time. Every now and then you want to get on it, so perfromance is a key.

What say you guys?

welcome KH....

this is what i think..... i know there are going to be many comments. i would go with the mp-8 to begin with. its adjustable, its reliable (from what i hear)and later on you can stack it with any smarty, ppe, diablosport, downloader. you should also check out the quadzilla xzillaraider. they make a nice piece, that is adjustable, and has a nice small display that reads rail pressure, which is key when you want to do other fuel mods. they also make a race setup, too! good luck... ... and dont forget that this could be the start of a low balance of your bank account :-laf

well....

i can tell you this... . when you first get it, dont expect any fuel mileage increase, because you are going to be beside yourself with your new found power. when you get over it, you will probably see from 1. 5 - 2. 5 mpg gain. i would look at the quadzilla... good mileage gains and a really nice display, and to be honest, very competitively priced. i am hearing that adding injectors (50hp or 60hp) will gain you about 2-3 mpg gain. i bought some, but have not inistalled yet, so i cant tell you facts just yet. if you were to get the quadzilla and then decide to get injector nozzles, it would monitor your fuel rail, which is a plus. dont know if the mp-8 monitors fuel rail pres. nozzles run around $800. 00 or so... ... would pay for itself in very little time if you travel a lot. there are tons of guys on this site that are really helpful. good luck

wags..........

your right didn't even think about that. i now do recall that the older cr's are prone to injector wear... ... ... nice call.

order the smarty with the revo loaded and you can set the RP to stock or 3 other rp levels. id proubly leav it set at stock to be on the safe side. call bob he is a nice guy and very informative.

Well I toasted my stock injectors, and the general explanation from injector shops I have talked to is that the MP-8 with the stock liftpump and filter setup led to the early death of my injectors along with some crappy fuel the stock system fail to clean.

yeah, bummer.

thats why i use mmo and ps with everyother tank full. i dont trust the fuel were are getting sold nowadays. sorry to hear about the in jector problems. but it gives you an excuse to upgrade. :D

Man you guys scare me! Toasted injectors and extremefuel rail pressures!!

I like the MP-8 with the ability to turn it down when I get in or out of the truck and I can't do that with the Smarty. Butin reality the Smarty and MP-8 generate extra HP the same way correct?

I will say that care in what you do to it and maintainance are critical.
The very first mod I did was to add a FASS 95/95. The second was
to add an FS-2500. The first filters your fuel and removes air and
water. The second filters your oil in addition to the regular filter.
I am waiting for SMARTY 67 to come out. Then that will be mod
three-A, Three-B will be a DPF delete kit with a straight pipe in it's place.
