Cute Joke.........great but Not Office Friendly

Ok so I decided I better get with the times and get a MP3 player, I have been looking online at different players but can't decide which one I want. Looking at a sony walkman or a phillips, haven't looked into the ipods, don't know if you have to have special software for that or what.

Anyways, question 1: what players do you guys have and which ones would you suggest, probably only need a 2GB player

Question 2: Where do you download the songs, I know how to get them from my personal cd's but what about internet sights, can't decide if I want to use the free limewire site (heard you can get viruses and spam) or go with the pay sites.

Question #: Which site is the best? And cheapest?

I think thats it for now, if I have anymore questions I will ask.

Thanks in advance

1. iPod. I bought mine discounted here from Apple.

2. The only website I've used is iTunes. They seem to have a huge library of songs which are $. 99 each. They also have tv shows and movies but I haven't had a need to buy any of those yet.

3. Can't help you here, I've only used iTunes.

2GB will hold a TON of songs. Mine is 1GB and I have 20 albums in it and it's about half full. Alot of radios/stereos will have docks for the iPod not sure if the others will work in them or not. My iPod plugs directly into the dock that came with my Phillips DVD player. Combining the iPod and surround sound system creates a heck of a stereo system. They make alot of accessories for the iPod such as cases, chargers, etc.

#1 I use my LG AX 565. A guy at work just bought an actual Mp3 player(I don't remember which brand) with an FM transmitter( I love mine) that I find quite handy. His is not very big but I agree 1- 2 Gigs is usually adequate for most people. My phone has a 4 Gig card and I have over 200 songs most at 256 or 320 kbps(high quality) and I have a long ways to go until I get it remotely close to full.

#2 If you go with an Ipod I think your pretty much limited to Itunes only correct? I have never messed with any so I don't know for sure. I usually use Amazon.com $. 99 a song or $8. 99 for an album usually

for loading/unloading songs from it yeah... as for the mp3's... i've got several thousand songs and not one is "legally" purchased...

I like the ipod and would not consider anything else for my purposes. Itunes is a great program for managing your music and you can rip from any CD or buy from the itunes store. The ipod also does audio books and video very well.

I also went with ipod. I have an 80 gb classic and have all my music on it with 60 gb to go, wife and I both have shuffles as they are great for walking, airplanes, etc.

I tunes organizes it all including all the mp3 format I got from my son in law.

I ditched all my large stereo equipment and am using only the ipod and a docking station. Take the ipod to the boat and use it in that stereo as well.

I bought the classic from Circuit City as it had the best deal at the time... the shuffles were e bay buys.

Hope this helps.

iPod. I have an 80Gb with 12 Gb of Music and 5 movies and 3K pics.

if you have an extensive CD collection you simply import them into iTunes, In fact it will handle all that for you. iPod IS the standard for MP3 players as they have been the market with soooo many followers.

Alpine now has shifted tward the standard too,

You're post could have come from me a few months ago. I figured the best people to ask are the young adults who all have them at school and know whats the rage. Luckilly we had neigbors come over one evening with their kids, one of them 16. She was attached to her MP3 player as are most people her age. I asked if it was an iPod. She said "No, it's a Zune" and according to her, they are IT. It is very similar to an iPod in size and all, but plays more music formats. It also holds pictures, video, and podcasts like iPod, plus it has an FM radio built in. I read a lot of reviews of people leaving their smaller iPods for the Zune 4/8G. The biggest pro I see for the iPod is there is a flood of accessories for it.

In the end, it depends on your requirements. For an unbiased comparison, check out Zune 2 4g or the old ipod nano ? - Yahoo! Answers and scroll down to the third person.

Two weeks ago both iPod 4G and Zune 4G were $129 at Walmart. Beware of their 15 day return policy though.

I have the ipod nano I think its 2nd or 3rd gen. I don't really know. I bought the day after it came out last year. I have 1400 songs on mine and have never downloaded a song lawfully or unlawfully. Huge cd collection. still plenty of room to go.

I have an 80gig Ipod. I fought it and fought it (dont' like Apples iPod only on downloads), but in the end there are so many more aftermarket goodies for iPods. Itunes is fine. The download is free, it's fairly simple to use, and you get a free song every Tuesday. Not necessarily a good song, but free. ;) I have close to 300 albums on mine, a few movies, and a boatload of pictures. There is still room. At first, I thought the pictures on there was kind of lame, but it is essentially another source of backup in case my hard drive or back up hard drive crashes. To many memories to lose. If you have a pretty fast computer, you can start moving a dozen or so cd's per night and pretty soon your whole library is on your computer. Now I have a huge entertainment center that I don't really need anymore!
