I was researching the mp3 thing pretty heavily back when we still had Napster and found www.mp3car.com. There is a wealth of info on this website. Many of the systems are permanent mount computer systems (in which you can easily add the gps, mp3 capability, etc. and interface with a standard head unit), but many of them are based on in dash installation.



edit: also check out the "examples of mp3 cars" link. There are around 500 examples of in car mp3 systems that people have listed and many with pictures of the install.
