My truck is 99 2500, Quad, 24V ,4WD 3. 54, Auto with 4" ex, Amsoil air filter and until yesterday no fueling mods. Basically stock for the last 50,000 miles I broke out all the tankfulls of fuel under 100% towing. It came out to 36 tanks of fuel. Truck with shell and full tank of fuel, 2 PAX weighs in at 7200 # and the trailer full up in the real world is 5000#. Trailer is an Airstream.

I take the time and fill it up to the top every fueling and generally do not refuel until I am close to 3/4 empty. I tow at an average of 68 MPH.

Highest MPG 15. 79 ( 55-60 MPH )

Lowest MPG 11. 9 ( 70-75 MPH, tooth ache headed home!!)

Average of 36 tanks 14. 30 MPG

Trivia to throw out for general information:)

Awright

Wish mine would do that, I average about 10. 7 towing. The speed doesn't seem to matter much, I have tried staying around 65mph and usually drive 70, no difference. bg

Yeah, I agree. Your mileage is fairly good. Depending on the amount of hills, I average around 12-14 pulling 12,000 lb 5-er. I rarely take out of overdrive on hills, and do not have an EGT problem running fueling box on #2 setting.

12 -14 is real good with your weight. I live in Boise Idaho all my travelling is up or down hills it seems. I use my gages to drive by for the most part. I pull out of O/D if I see the RPM dropping below about 1600 RPM or there abouts and stay out until I get over the grade. Travel around 65 - 68 most of the time. Hope to not hurt my milage with the addition of the new 275"s. Time will tell. Waiting for the wife to retire this July so we can get on the road a bit more. The last 5 years we have towed on the average of 6000 miles a year.

99 Quad, 4WD, 2500, 3. 54, lear type shell, 4" ex, gages, Amsoil air filter, Amsiol oil, 275 RV injectors.

Grossing out at 22,000 lbs and turning 12 tires I get 10. 8 MPG if I don't have to stop and go too many times. There is this one stretch of road that I stop of slow down and turn a corner 9 times in 70 miles, can you say 8. 5-9 MPG.

I would say your mileage is good.
