What are you guys seeing for MPG on your 04's, stock or bombed. I feel that mine is low. 15. 6hc on last 2 tanks. just changed filter last night. Running winter blends, w/Stanadyne PF... . TIA Scott

I get 15. 5 to 16. 5 around town and the best I have gotten on the highway is 17. 3 running 70-75 max. Above that speed it drops to about 16. The mileage better after a few 350 mile trips. Also it seems the more miles I get on it the MPG increases. I have 18k now. Truck is stock except for an exhaust system. Lower in the summer because of the A/C.

I am so pleased with my truck. 41K on it now and it is just getting better and better. I do a lot of HWY miles but use it in sales so around town is pretty common too. Until about 15K I was struggling to get 20mpg but I break it regularly now hand calculating. I have stopped resetting my trip computer but it still coincides with the hand math pretty closely. I would say I am averaging between 20 and 21 on most tanks if I drive with any technique that reflects my age. The AC seems to affect it less than 1mpg. Boy, on my old Chevy gasser it would clip me around 3-4mpg. Gotta love an engine that barely notices an AC compressor. Get some miles on that thing and make sure you have your tires aired up!

I've been getting a respectable hand calc 19 average since 20K. I drive 65 - to stay alive, or something like that  (also WY speed limit) :)

I did a cross country trip this fall from Reno to Louisville, about 2200 miles. Going East with slight tail wind unloaded at 75 or 80 I got 18. 5 hand calc. Return trip with thousand pound load and into a big wind I got 16. 5 hand calc. Around town I get maybe 14 or 15. 04 4x4 HO 48re stock.

I used to get about 16. 8-18. 8 around town, depending on how many lights caught me. I put a box on with the other mods in my sig and now avg is 19 around town, with hwy of 22 or better, if I hit a lot of 55 areas. I still get 18 or better on short hwy runs, at 70-80mph. All numbers hand calc. Improvements, air filter, exhaust got me no improvment until the box went on.

Getting 16. 5 - 17. 2 backroads/ in traffic, 18. 5- 19. 5 highway average 70, above that it will start to fall off, no box yet!

Depends on how you are driving. If most of your driving is a combo of short freeway trips and around town you are pretty close to what I see with winter blend. I usually calc somewhere around 16-17. Staright highway driving is different. I can break 20 MPG if it is flat land and I'm driving 65 MPH.

Pulling the fiver is another matter. 12 MPG on the flats at 63 MPG. If I'm in the mountains it's 10 MPG. Mine is a triple axle and very heavy, so I can't say I'm surprised.

My truck is just coming up on 15k and I get an average of 19-20 both on the computer and hand-calc (computer 0. 2mpg less than hand-calc) for driving that is about 50-50 city-highway. I rarely go above 65 and only stomp on it when necessary. Only engine mod is 4" exhaust.

Mine is not as good. I average 13 around town and 16 on highway at 70. This is the worst mileage of all my last 6 Dodges.

Have you re-programmed your ECU (speedo) for the bigger tires? Bigger tires rotate less per mile than the stock ones... therefore registering less miles than actually traveled. There's a calculator online somewhere, just can't remember where.

BTW, I'm only getting 14. 5-15. 5MPG, 70%hwy 25%city, but I only have 1,500mi on the truck. It's an '04. 5 2500 LWB 4X4 Auto. I won't be overly-concerned about the mileage 'til the motor's broken-in, which should be around the 20,000mi mark, as I never tow anything.

i think the best i've ever seen is 16mpg hand calculated and i guesstimated about a 10% speedo error due to the 315's that have not had the speedo recalibrated for and 99% of my driving is city
