MPG on the rise!

05 4x4 auto qcab 15k... . had the computer TSB done about 3 tanks ago. The truck was 15 to 16 since new. Last tank was 602mi and 32gal. Mix driving. Thats almost 19... I could not belive my eyes... . It must be breakin and the TSB.....

My 05 yesterday went 607 miles on 29 gallons when the pump shut off and it has about 15K. I just changed the oil to Amsoil, changed the air filter and worked the cold air intake.

I've kept an Excel spreadsheet recording my fuel performance since I bought my truck and, though a sample of n=1 is insignificant, I noticed for my truck that the fuel mileage average has been steadily climbing. I have almost 40,000 miles and get about 19. 5 mpg driving in Baton Rouge traffic (up 50% since the hurricanes) and occasional highway trips. On the highway I set the cruise at 75 (doing the speed limit on the interstate is a good way to get rear-ended in Louisiana). A trip to Kentucky revealed 21 mpg in straight highway driving--I'm happy! Advice to new first-time Cummins owners---these things seem to need a break-in period before you realize your mileage potential, so do yourself a favor and don't take seriously a mpg reading in the first 1000 miles.

I keep records on mine too... same deal... even at 70k it is still coming up.



I'm getting around 20-21mpg highway... around 17-18 town.
