I bought my truck and it had 75 miles on it and it was getting 10 MPG. Now its got 2600 miles on it and its up to 15. 5 MPG. I hope I can get it up to around 17-18. Anybody else getting that?

The best I have gotten was 20 mpg empty driving 65-70 to and from San Antonio. The speed you drive will really dictate what kind of mileage you get as will your truck configuration (dually, 6 speed, 2x4,etc). If you drive reasonable speeds, I think you may see the 17-18 mpg once the engine is broken in. Have you towed with it?

my best was before the flatbed and 35" tires, but after the 2" lift and about 12K miles. I tow often, so that helped with break in. Easy into the throttle and easy on it will get you the best mileage. I want to say that was in the neighborhood of 21mpg, hand calculated. And I have a 4wd Dually! If you aren't in a hurry, kick the cruise on at 60-65 and relax in the slow lane and just watch the odometer clock by as your fuel gauge does nothing!

I've been averaging about 18 hand calculated and around 20 on the computer. Thats with winter blend fuel, I'm figuring it may go up a little on summer fuel.

Yes I have towed with it. I have an 8 X 20 enclosed trailer. The mileage does drop when towing. I once heard something about losing mileage when runnig over 2000 RPM's, any truth to that?

mine was 11. 9 at the dealership 450 miles away... now 3 weeks later with 1450 on the odo i am at 12. 3 and the slow acceleration thing?. ?. ? when im back home in town on the weekends... . my MPG goes up when im runnin somewhat hard... i get worse when i drive normal... . sounds like ill stick with drivin like a bat outta hell

I have a 4X4 Dually and 48RE. I just made a 400 trip this afternoon with the cruise set at 75 mph. Hand calculated showed 16. 6 mpg and the overhead shows 16. 4 mpg. I seen to get about 1mpg better if I stay at 65 mph.

Hey Brother Firefighter!

I just returned from a 9k mile trip through Texas towing a 21' TT. I averaged almost 15 MPG (hand Calc) for the entire trip. I usually average 18-19 driving to town 25 mile R/T and have gotten as high as 23 on the interstate for 300 miles at a constant 55MPH. I backed that up with 22 MPG on the return trip. I've had the truck reflashed - it seemed to help the mileage. I'm retired and have more time than money so I drive somewhat slow and easy. I am very happy with my truck and have had absolutely no problems in 16,000 miles.
