2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Mr Bob's Roadmaster suspension

I just installed the Roadmaster spring that goes on the top of the spring. Don't have pictures yet, but it looks like it is pretty good,



I think I noticed the rear is now a little higher like 1/2" or so...



I have a 28' toybox trailer and the tounge weight is a little heavy so the "porpoising" effect I am having, when there is a big dip on the highway, irritating so I hope this will help that some. Ride when the truck is empty is SLIGHTLY stiffer but not uncomfortable. Will post some pics next week.

I have had those on mine for about 5 years now,still working good. Have you got that billet filter cover on yet?

I've been runnin those for abut 5 years. One thing I found that needsto be done is if you have a 1 ton, the overload spring bump stops have to be removed. I didn't and last year had one fall off where it had been rubbing on the stop . The spring stayed on but the hook over the rear was lost. I call Bob and he sent me one in the mail at no charge. Since I install the Kelderman Air Ride,the coils really help to keep the OEM spring stiffer and make the bags work all the better. More like a 4 link. For me, I won't go back.

I've got these on my rig also. It's a '00 2500 4x4 Quadcab Shortbed.



I haven't tried any different spring tension settings other than the original at installation, and was wondering what other people have been getting good results with.



I normally run empty although I have about a 400# piece of plate steel in the bed.



Also, when adjusting the spring, does the weight have to be off the axles? I can't remember.

Yes it does, Mr Smith. I jacked the rear up by the frame till the tires were off the ground. Then adjusted till I got what I wanted. Bob says , get a quarter in between the loops. I got mine tighter cause of the air ride. Sooner or later I'll have to go with the 4 link.

Mine have been on for about 5 years too. I like them. Truck corners better and I don't get wheel hop in the snow. I set mine up on the tight side too. Sort of a "poor mans traction bar". Simpler to install too.

I remember setting mine up to the quarter thickness initially.



To try for a softer ride, do I tighten the spring (wider gap) or loosen it?



I thought that some of the guys were experimenting with this at one time, and was wondering what the results were.

for a softer ride, loosen it but if you loosen it too much, if the spring is unweighted, it could slip off the end of the eye-bolt.



I looked under the truck for the overload stops and yep they are close to the spring so I took them off. just 3 bolts per side.....
