I wouldn't have faith with MSD anywhere near water... I have years and years of experience racing and building high-perfomance personal watercraft (Jet Skis, WaveRunners, and Sea-Doos). MSD igntion systems are commonly known as extremely unreliable. Unfortunately, MSD was the only company to offer kits for some models, so there were no other options. It has always been common to go to a race with no less than three complete MSD kits on hand due to EXPECTED failures. All the competitive did this. Many racers had two ignition boxes wired in so they could easily switch between ignitions WHEN they failed during a race. Also, in that industry, MSD had extremely poor customer service, even when there were commonly known problems, such as with pickups not being potted correctly or misplaced magnets on flywheels.



Somehow MSD has had some success in the relatively stress-free environment of automobiles, but it has failed miserably when put into a tough environment.
