I just left the local stereo store a couple hours ago and I saw the new Sub box for the gen 3 rams... . It is a molded plastic with it looked like 2 - 10" (could be 8") subs. It drops in under the rear seat into the storage compartments as one unit. The only thing I was told was there is no room under the rear seats then for anything else, not even an amp... ..... They say it is $395. 00 suggested retail... ...

It also looks as though a flat load floor would not work either... ... Hmmmmm Might have to pull out the load floor if I decide to upgrade the speakers..... Got to sell the stock tires first though... ...

JL Audio stealthbox sub

I got the JL Audio Stealthbox for the '03 QC. You have to give up the passenger side fold flat, though. It has one 10" sub, and it sounds better than any wedge type box I had in any truck with two 10's. I am impressed, but still mad about losing the bigger of the two fold flat sides. . It was $599 at the stereo shop, could've probably gotten it cheaper elsewhere but I had them do the full install, so I paid the premium prices... :(

I have amps under each seat, one for the sub and one for the four door speakers. I swapped out the front speakers with some MB Quart 3 ways. The amps don't interfere with the jack or the rear seat foot room.

I had the MTX thunder form in my 2nd gen (it's for sale!!) and I now have the JL sub in my 3rd gen. I like the JL better, I could also leave my fold flat floor on the drivers side. I placed my amp, a JL big block amp under the drivers seat. Looks really nice under there and fits just great. There's plenty of room for the toes in back too! Visit my gallery to see the install. I have a Rockford amp from my old 2nd gen truck that I have hooked up to my MTX sub for sale also.

You guys just let me know when you're ready to add those speaker systems and throw away your fold-flats! I'm one of the idiots who didn't get the fold out table and would love helping you out :D

Has anyone talked to one of the shops about a custom unit that lets you keep your fold flat? I don't know if it would be do-able but it would definitely be worth the money if you could get the subs and keep your fold flat.

Krabman, yes it is possible for a good stereo shop to make a custom fiberglass box to fit in the space under the folding floors. I have a friend that has a 3rd gen with folding floors that just had it done. The down side to doing it that way is the cost, I believe the sub box alone cost him around 600. 00 dollars w/out the speaker, but yes it can be done... looks awesome too. This was his only option since like lawdog, he did not want to loose his flat load floors as well.

Me too, if you can still use the center seat. Wouldn't want the girlfriend to have to use that horrible passenger seat... :)
