2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Mud guards or mud flaps

I am pondering over the idea of mud guards or mud flaps. Which would protect my truck the best from gravels? One thing that I am concerned about is right now my tires are stock (265's). When stock tires are worn out I want to go to a bigger tire, like a 305 . What I'm wondering is which will protect better with stock tires and later with the 305's. Any info would be appreciated.

Here is what I put on all my Dodges. Nothing gets by them. Just make sure what ever you put on, that they are hung low enough. The lower the better the body protection. Look at the departure angle between the tire at the ground, and the bottom of the flap and visualize a straight line. That will give an idea of the body parts protected.

Be careful if they're low and you try backing up over a curb or some other object. I had two on my old truck once, and ripped them both off this way. (Pinched between the tire & the curb)

That happened to me a couple of times in my old condo complex, in a hurry on the way to fire calls. Just scuffed 'em though, didn't rip 'em off. Gotta look close to see the scuffs, you know it's killing ME though! Too $$ to replace at this time, gotta buy other stuff first!
