Why 2nd gear lock up?

A buddy of mine has the 305/85R16 Coyotes on his (Cummins powered) Chevy 1-ton. Last I heard he was pretty happy with them, and I like the way they look. I think they are around $115-$120 each, and look to be a good tall street tire. Other brands of 37X12. 50's ATs over $300.

I checked the web site of Denman and looked at the coyote's They look great. I wonder why the weight rating is so low on them. Does anyone have any miles on these tires? How is the traction in nasty stuff (mud / snow)? the 265/85/16 look the be the perfect size I am looking for.
