Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Mufferless shorty

Anybody have a "shorty" exhaust that exits in front of the rear wheel?



Do they coat the rear wheel/fender with soot?

My exhaust pipe stops just passed the cab. It does leave a little soot under the truck, but I just say its another coat of protection against rust.

I had a 5" inch turned out in front of the tire and loved the look and sound but I you always have a black wheel unless clean it every other day. My rim got to a point where I had to have polished because I could not get it clean any more. I read many times on here not to do it and did it anyways. I would not do it unless you have junk rims or plan on getting new ones.

My roomate has Rip's 4" mufflerless "shorty" on his '02 HO. His truck is bone stock and it makes mine sound like its got a muffler on it. We took it for a test drive and riding shotgun with the window down, it was pretty abnoxious. I like it,... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ..... on his truck.

I built one for my 01 and I love the look. Yea, some soot on the wheel but comes off with simple green and the monthly washing.

Do you have stock steel rims or aluminum? My cleaned up fine with the stock rims,but the new rims just kept getting darker after every cleaning. It also pitted the rims pretty bad
