Does anyone have any sound clips?I may want to try this but dont want the truck to sound like a ricer,I want a deep tone like a truck should have. Does this mod do anything for performance?

Didnt notice any performance on mine, i like the way it sounds! Dont have a sound clip but i do know that if u straight pipe it thats when they sound like a ricer. If ya want deep tone mybe look into a 5" system!

Just did the muffler delete on my O6 and i sounds pretty good but now it's too loud in the cab for me. Doesn't sound like a ricer though. Didn't notice much difference in performance.

Ricer???? no way. With no muffler, cat in place, the tone is VERY deep, semi truck deep. At higher rpm, wide open, it flat rips, sounds awesome. I drive with the windows down on purpose to listen to it. With the windows up mine is hardly louder than a stocker, in fact I can't hardly hear it with the windows up. All the "systems" people spend hundreds on are worthless IMO. The truck has more than enough exhaust flow with the factory 4" pipe.

how about at idle?Where we hunt we leave the motel at 4am and I dont want to wake everyone within a mile being too loud, not that I would drive hard at that time, but just regular acceleration. I guess I could try it and if I dont like it just put the stock muffler back on. Anyone use the Genos ME pipe?

I run the Genos ME kit and like it alot! U wont have to worry about noise, not much louder than stock on lower rpm's, so if ya take er easy in the morning u will be fine!

Get it u wont be disappointed with it! I agree that the factroy 4" is more than enough!

I installed the Genos ME pipe, not too loud, not much louder than stock. I actually like the tone. It went in without much trouble, took about an hour, but I had a couple interruptions, so may be less for you.

It is no louder at idle than stock. Certainly worth the $$$'s it cost. It did lower my EGT's when towing by around 100*. Got a little better throttle response too.

It is not real easy to get off. Take the clamps off and split the pipe with a real thin cutting wheel. Carefully spread the pipes with a screwdriver/chisel type device and a hammer and remove it. Put the ME kit on and drive it. But use band clamps! If you don't like it, hammer where the OE clamps the muffler and tail pipe back round and weld the seams. Put the muffler back on with the band clamps and sell the ME for a little more than 1/2 of what you paid for it. At worst you will be out 20 bucks and a couple of hours of laying under the truck drinking beer.

But there is not much chance you will want to put it back on. If you are asking about it, and thinking about it, you want to do it. So just do it.

If you need to call me 7 tomorrow morning and I'll ask my car pool rider to hold the cell phone out the window.

I have a 99 w/the muffler eliminated. It doesn't sound like a racer, but, more like the drone out of my friends 5 inch. didn't notice much on the performance alone, but, i'm sure it helped when I added other performance mods.

I have also gone down this road. First came the MEP from Geno's. I really liked the sound without the muffler, slightly louder at idle and nice and deep when you get on it. Next step was to loose the cat. It is no doubt much louder now. At idle i really enjoy it, and blipping the throttle will make ANYONE jump within 30 feet in a parking lot. Truck smells better in my opinion, but i like the smell of diesel exhaust (without going thru a cat). I havent made up my mind if its to loud though. Driving around i can hear the exhaust bounce off of buildings and houses, sounds good cruising, but if i am on it, it sounds a little rappy. I guess i need to let a buddy drive it by me once to see what it really sounds like. I didnt notice much change in EGTs after removing just the muffler. EGTs dropped 50-100 degrees normal driving and over 100 towing after removing the cat.
