Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) Muffler needed

Does anybody have experience with the 5" Donaldson muffler vs 5" Dynomax muffler that Summit racing sales. I'm looking for the quieter of the 2 in a straight through design. Thanks.

I'd go w/ a good flowing donaldson... M09035 will flow great and quiet well... if you're talking about a 5" dynomax bullet, I wouldn't waste my time. they're still quite loud and eat up all the turbo whistle in the exhaust

I'm lookin for stealth mode quiet and was already leaning towards the Donald. Does the M09035 have the removeable soft plug?

no the M09035 is straight through and is a 9" diameter case... PN M100463 is the same muffler with a 10" case for even more sound reduction... it WILL fit under the truck, but it's a tight fit!

Got the M09035 installed tonight. Left the soft plug in for now until I finish plumbing out to the rear. ALOT deeper quiet tone than the 4" straight. Hope the plug dosen't cause an increase in EGT's.

I didn't realize it had the plug... if it does, it shouldn't hurt flow, that muffler has a high cfm rating

I wonder how bad it's gonna soot up having the plug in? I'm heavy on fuel:-laf and love to put the coals to the fire. Finished plumbing almost all the way out to the rear and it sure is ALOT quieter. I may knock the plug out due to the fact that it's soo quiet.

Leaving the plug in is not a problem. I know someone who has had theirs in since they did the 5" a few years ago. We did two,one with the plug in,his and mine with the plug removed. I like the sound of his now better than I do mine. Mine was good until I added more timing and now there is no sneaking around like you can with his... ... Andy

I'm sure once I finish my twins I'll have alot less soot. After I did a pump swap and timing I hated driving mine with 4" straight piped. Can't wait to take it for a drive nowOo.

Forrest, since you have all the experience with many exhausts, which would you reccomend for my set up???

@ this time im running true 4 inch straight, not to please with the sound, maybe want to go 5 inch??? i really think that the stock turbo is louder outta the tailpipe for some reason, this one gets a hi-pitch whistle @ a certain low Boost but... this one may be louder from the front and very quiet outta the tailpipe, is it my imagination?

I would also like something that has a kida stock look, not too much of an L shape @ the tail end of it. more of a downward angle, not that 90degree angle. well enuf for now. ill wait patiently for your reply...

You are exactly right! There is absolutly no exhaust tone what so ever under a hard pull. All I can hear is turbo and now finally tireOo. Very, very quiet compaired to what I had before. There is no drone at all when just crusing. I placed the muffler about 12" past the cab and went over the axle then it dumps 12" past the axle at a 45* angle. I now have a new found love for truck all over againOo. . If I had to do an exhaust again it would be the 5" Donaldson.
