What should I watch for when I take delivery?

Need some advice, which way will give me the lowest egt's, a aftermarket 4 inch muffler exhaust, or just straight pipeing a stock exhaust. Looking to get my 03 "box prepped" for the least amount of money, and also get max performance from the box. Thanks.

Straight piping and the 4" would probably be about the same as far as the EGTs. When I put the 5" on my '97, I only saw about a 50* max. reduction in temps. Removing the muffler would also be the cheapest. If you also have a resonator, you will probably want to keep it on.

Straight piping an 03 is IMHO not a pretty sound at all. I really sounds alot like the powerstrokes when they run straight. Lots of popping and fluttering sounds. My buddies got one with no muff and he hates it. He wants my areoturbine in the worst way. If you want it to sound good, inside and/or out you are going to have to spend some money. Do a search on exhuast and there is a wealth on knowledge. Good luck.
