All right troops,

Besides in the trash, where oh where should the muffler be placed? I have seen some people say they put it in the stock location, some as far forward as possible and some as far aft as possible. :-{} I'm corn-fused. So where and why? Or put it another way, who is droning and who isn't. I can't see that there would be any performance difference one way or the other.

Trash it, at the very least replace it with the muffler elimination kit from Genos.

As for drone issues, the farther forward you put the muffler, the better to combat drone. That's my understanding, anyway.

If you are speaking of a replacement 4" exhaust system, we have found that you generally get less drone/noise in the cab if the muffler is placed as far forward as possible. This is especially true when using an Aeroturbine which works best with heat.

Hey Car_nut57 I have your Aeoturbine setup and I used the Ford psd intermediate pipe. It works great and sounds great no drone, Sounds like a Peterbilt

My 460 powered '79 Ford sounds best with the glass packs as far back as I can get them before the turn-out behind the rear wheels ... ... ... ... . I can't stand those cacklely sounding 350 Chevies with the exhaust straight out the back

A lot of guys like that set up for the price and sound, but we have found it works even better with the 4" down pipe and the Aeroturbine moved forward as far as possible especially if the truch does have the drone. Most Aeroturbine users say they really like hearing the engine sound rather than the hiss from the tail pipe. Glad you like it.
