I'm getting a new B1 turbo and wil be forced to put new exhaust on my truck:rolleyes: ;) :D

I'm gonn build it myself but I want to get som opinions on mufflers and suppliers.

I want a quiet 4" I/O muffler that's free flowing.

The exhaust is gonna exit in front of the rear wheel.

Which ones do you like and who has the best prices?

I did the same - 4"ahead of the wheel. The 21471($70. 51 wholesale) is too noisy for my liking - go deaf if I leave the right window down.

What make muffler is the part # for? I see there is acompany in issue 34 that sells a turbo back 4" set-up fro around $450. Anybody have experience with this one? I need to replace mine but am waiting till Spring (when the Salt demons are done).

muffler

mark, i made my own system from "parts". i used a Goerlich's BIG straight thru 4" truck muffler. i believe it was # 3653. it deepened the tone, no drone, no significant ncrease in volume. Goerlich's has a website, but doesn't tell you much. i think you have to buy through a muffler shop. i got one from a local guy who had had it around for a long time. i was in a hurry one day, and honestly think i may have paid too much. . about $100 as i remember.

Mark, try a big-rig supplier... I was going with 4" and ended up buying a 5" standard muffler for a semi... . it's the kind that you see standing up vertically behind a semi cab... and laid it flat under the truck (yes it fits clear of the drive shaft). I just used a 5"/4" reducer and a couple band clamps and I was done! I figured if it would flow enough for 14 liters, it would be just fine for my little 5. 9! Yes, it's pretty quiet but louder than stock... it seems to let turbo whistle noise thru... sounds like a quiet, big truck!

Magnaflow

I really like the sound of the magnaflow #12772, I think it runs around $80. Not loud but you can hear the Cummins breathing, augh, augh,augh, power I need more power. :{

I found some stuff on the magnaflow site. . called a local muffler shop and he'll get back to me in the morning.

a 7"x36" 4"inlet/outlet pn#12773(al) 14773(ss)

USA TRUCK PARTS

yes, and they have good prices on resonators, too, if you should need one. i didn't check to see if the mufflers are aluminized, but bet they aren't at that price. maybe galvanized??. if they are cold rolled mild steel, they'll rust pretty quickly.

I would go for the Magnaflow. Very sweet sounding and not very loud. Jardines use Magnaflow mufflers. I went with Jardine because I didn't want it much louder than stock.

Walker

Mr. Hemi,

21471 is a heavy duty, aluminized, generic Walker Muffler. 4" in and out, 6 or 7"round, approx. 36" long end to end. Straight thru design with a perforated tube, no packing. You can pick them up for around $70. 00.
