I had the magnaflow and thought it sounded like an import so i went with the straight pipe. Now the str8 pipe is too loud. Im trying to find the right setup for me. If you have sound files with your mufflers please post. Thanks

I posted a video of my truck with the magnaflow, but all it shows is what you said, sounds like an import :( I haven't figured out what to go with either... Not too happy with the magnaflow though.

Go with the MBRP replacement muffler..... Sounds Deep and throaty when you get on it, but idles quite like stock... . People will now you have exhaust work done on your truck when you go by and get on it... . Thats what i went with on mine... . Like it, tried the Str8 pipe and it wasn't too loud for me, but i got the really bad DRONE inside that cab at about 45mph... Hope that gives a little insight on what you were asking.

if your truck is running correctly the sound should be pretty nice, especially if you have a 5" exhaust, man it growls---even better with abox and other mods on it!!!! :-laf

dieselpower i see you have the 4 inch turbo back. Do you have any drone? Did your truck have the 3. 5 or 4 in elbow. Also is it just the muffler or do i have to purchase the whole system. Who has them for sale?

for now i have a 4" mbrp its been on for a few months, drone yes about 2200-2400 rpm but not much, stock elbow, i've got the whole system, and i have them for sale. pm me for prices!! thanks :-laf

well if it has drone i dont want it. I guess ill look into putting the magnaflow back on and adding a resonator. Or i might just go with the 51" donaldson

the mangnaflow sounds nice, no drone that im aware of 4 or 5" :D

the mbrp is not really a drone its more like where the noise gets the loudest

I have the magnaflow in the garage but the drone it produces at 2200 rpms is annoying when the family is riding. It also sounds like an import (imo). I might just try a resonator with a str8 pipe and see what it sounds like. If i dont like that ill try the magnaflow and resonator and if that fails i will look at purchasing something else. (Stock Muffler)LOL!

An Aeroturbine does wonders for the import racket. Got rid of the nasaly hissy sound on my '03. There is a recording of my truck on Diesel Power Products' website, although it sounded much better in reality than the recording (which Dave Meheen made with his '80s vintage VHS-tape camcorder) :-laf

I purchased a Walker/Dynomax through NAPA for $75. 00, louder than stock but absolutely no drone. I have pulled my toybox fully loaded(14000#) no drone in any situation I have encountered. I have also been complimented on the sound more than once  .

I did but I cant find it, originally found it in a "Sport Truck" magazine under a "Dynomax" add called "BIG PIPES". NAPA sells them out of their "Walker" catalog.

4" straight through, about 30" long, has DYNOMAX stamped into the steel.

Hope that helps.

I have the single Silverline turbo-back system, from what I can tell the muffler is identical to the MBRP. My rig w/out the cat has a pretty good "BRAAP" to it when I get on the go pedal and a mild drone at highway speeds.

Here are some links to video clips with sound.
