Muffler

Well I got the muffler off and left the resonator, it sounds great not much louder but a deeper tone. I like it. I also relocated the oil drip bottle back to just in front of the rear wheel. The CB is going in this weekend. Love this truck!!!!!

what did you use to replace the space in between the muffler. I'm thinking about getting Geno's muffler eliminator and wanted to know if you used something like that.

on my first truck i used a walker 4" race muffler amd then 3" to meet back up with the tailpipe. it wast much louder that stock. so on my new truck i just put a strait pipe in without a muffler and it was too loud. it last about a week and i took it back off.

my new plan is to use the race muffler again and a true 4" inch tailpipe out the back i'll let you know how i like it.

I too took the muffler off with ginos me kit. I left the resonator on,the sound is just a little louder at idle. When pulling a load while gaining speed the sound is awesome. I think I might like a 4inch exhaust but would put in the 4in walker just to be safe. I like a little loud but not much. wifey likes the sound of it this way. may leave it alone.

Last night I removed the resonater and muffler and filled the space with a 62" long 3" pipe with a 3" offset and flared at both ends. Cost $25. 00 for the pipe bent and flared from a local muffler shop. Definitely louder when you stand on it.

Mactruck, I used Geno's pipe and am perfectly happy with it. Got the same results as RichB59... not much louder but more of deeper sound (growl).

Todd, I did mine this weekend and it sounds just like you described. I kinda like it but the better half thinks its way too noisy. I leave for work at 5:00 AM and she says the truck wakes her and junior up now. Should make a DD 4" system much easier to explain to her. #ad

It is a little louder, but not a deafening roar by any means. I guess it could be a matter of like/dislike also. I like the way it sounds, so that makes me partial.

my question is to you guys that used the ME does your truck get a deafening roar in the cab at about 70mph. that is why i took mine back off. we went on a five hour trip with the little one and my wife was beating me for it.
