HONEST. I been running it like that awhile. I usually lay off the heavy right foot while I'm in town, but sometimes I put the hammer down right near a cop but they don't seem to notice.

if you have the factory pipes on, but just straight piped, you could cut the muffler open like someone suggested here, and run a piece of straight pipe or flexpipe from inlet to outlet. then it would be a straight pipe but with a shell around it. cat can work the same way. cut the shell off, and reweld it on a piece of straight pipe. you could also fill the cat shell with some very packed steel wool or something similar, just in case if they come and give it a tap [so it doesn't sound hollow. ]



my factory cat/mid pipe and muffler/tailpipes are sitting in the basement waiting to be put back on for driveclean testing. my home brew 4" stuff is on for now. . i may cut the inners of the muffler off for fun. . cause when i sell the 'hoe, i think it will need the factory pipes on so someone will buy it.

I havnt had a problem 300 miles today I was mowing lawns on rt2 (main road big truck root) and I cant fit truck ands trailer in the drive way so I parked in the road a cop (cute girl one) asked me to pull off the road a bit more ( I was over the white line towards the yellow 5 feet) cant park on the lawn and mow at the same time!! so I mowed enough to get over as she watched I fired up the tank wound er up a bit and proceeded to get over some loud as all hell cop just smiled thanked me and was on her way. Dont worry be happyOo.

I've been pulled over several times, but not for the exhaust setup (Do you think they just don't notice??) Usually because I'm trying to run an 8 second 1/8 mile on the street(Try to, I'm not that fast). So many ricers,, So little time.



I just drove from South Texas (Straight across from Corpus Christi Tx) to 100 miles South of the Great Lakes (Amery, Wisconsin)with a trailer in tow, DD Drug Pushers, a COMP On 5x5 and a trailer in tow running 75MPH 90% of the time and didn't get hassled, not even once. (2,000 miles)



If the loud exhaust didn't give me away,, 6' of dual stacks would,, and if that didn't, then the long trail of Diesel smoke would. Most cops just aren't looking for, uhm,, "minor" Equipment Violations. Why should they try to give you a $100 Faulty exhaust ticket when they can get a $300 speeding in a construction zone ticket on somebody else.



Don't forget that in some cases the Turbo is called a muffler too,,, so just because there isn't a muffler under the truck,, doesn't mean there might not be one under the hood.

That maybe -but the FEDS aren't going to do darn thing about your missing muffler. Usually if its s Gas truck - and very loud you will probably get a ticket for no muffler otherwise - if it sounds ok you are usually safe. The FEDS can't stop terrorists from blowing things up - what makes you think they care about mufflers...
