I recently had the local exhaust shop put a straight pipe on the truck and am loving the sound. The only problem is that with the exhaust brake on, it makes a pretty sick sound. I would also like to mellow out the sound, so to speak. My question is "What kind of free-flowing mufflers do you prefer?" I don't know that much about what brand is good or bad. I was leaning towards the Flowmaster brand because i have heard good things about them. If you guys have any info i would be glad to hear it. Part numbers would be appreciated, if possible. Thanks in advance.

Don't get a Flowmaster. Check this link out: https://www.turbodieselregister.com/ubb//Forum1/HTML/003935.html

Walker 21468 (3") or 21471 (4") or the Dynomax Welded Race Magnum series is exactly the same construction as the Walker but only a little smaller so it will be a little louder. I don't have the Dynomax part numbers off hand. Dave Fritz put a Dynomax bullet muffler (very small) on his truck, it looks like a glasspack, and he is happy with it.

All of these you can see straight through.

check out http://www.racemufflers.com They have a wide variety of straight throuh mufflers. I have not heard one on a cummins yet(I am sh*tcanning my flowmaster soon) but they do an excelent job of muffling a 10 sec race car!! The car is no louder than a stock mustang with flowmasters on it. Good luck

If you straight pipe the exhaust, does the resulting tone sound like one of those 10 wheel dump trucks? Or for you military folks, a deuce-and-a-half? I've had the opportunity to hear 3 trucks that have a wonderful exhaust sound. A little loud, but no biggie. Have never been in a situation where I could stop them and ask them how they did it. Ideas? Thanks!

I hate mufflers almost as much as I hate polyprophylactics ! #ad

Let 'er rip, never mind the neighbors. My neighbors don't mind, and I don't hammer it at 6:00 a. m. , out of respect...
Seriously, got a friend with a Walker on his Cummins, and he loves it.

Borla makes mufflers up to 5" for race applications. Although i have never used one on a diesel. www.borla.com all they make is stainless steel, super high quality, pretty expensive, but you get what you pay for.
